Hi, I'm Christina and I am new to the board!
I also posted this over on the large families board...my husband and I have 4 boys and I am 4 weeks pregnant with #5 - we were not TTC! ;-)
I have had 5 c-sections (I have a son from a previous relationship when I was very young who was adopted). I am trying to find other women who have had a lot of c-sections and what their experiences have been... here's a little about mine (maybe someone can relate?):
#1 - 1998 - induced labor due to preeclampsia, labored for 12hrs, delivered via emergency c-section when ds starting coming out arm first)
#2 - 2002 - elective repeat, no complications
#3 - 2003 - elective repeat, no complications, OB said uterus was a little thin (#2 & #3 were only 18 months apart)
#4 - 2005 - diagnosed with placenta percreta and hospitalized from 31 weeks to 1 week post op (delivered at 35.5 weeks) - I was delivered in the trauma OR under general anethesia (this is a LONG story so I will make it short) - ended up being misdiagnosed and only had placenta previa (I don't mean that lightly, previa is still scary). I did bleed a lot after surgery, but they tore my insides apart with this c-sec, I literally felt like someone went inside my body and beat me violently after this section...never had that feeling before.
#5 - 2008 - elective repeat - no complications other than the surgeon knicking my bladder due to scar tissue (had a catheter for 2 weeks post op). I did have a classical incision with this one, all my others were lower transverse. I assume I have the classical incision both outside and inside, but not 100% positive. I did not have my tubes tied because my surgery took too long and I adamently refused general anethesia b/c of my experience with sec #4.
After my 5th, my perinatologist said I could have more, but he would not recommend it. I laughed at him because I had no intention of having more!! Crazy man, after I all went through, he thought there was a chance I'd get pregnant again ;-)
Needless to say, I am a little scared finding out I am preggo again!
Thanks for reading if you got this far!
