To this point I have refused to sleep train or CIO. Well for the past 4 nights DS has slept horribly! I tried to let him fuss it out on the first couple times he wakes up...but dh does not like to let him fuss and goes to get him after less than 5 min. Well DH is going on a business trip for 3 days. I know this is wishful thinking but I am hoping to train him in 3 days. For the last few days this is what I have experienced:
8pm sleep
10 wake
11:30 wake
1:30 wake
2:30 wake
3:30 wake
5am wake
6:30 up for the day
He is EBF ( well not true he eats solids 2x a day too). Most of th time I nurse him back to sleep but others I just rock him back to sleep or put him in his swing. I obviously do not have time to read a full sleep book today so please give me a readers digest version of something that is not a complete CIO.
Thanks!

Re: I give up
I know you said you don't have time to read a book but you can gather info on line regarding the sleep lady shuffle. The PP described it relatively well, although not in enough detail for you to get the full picture. Also, FWIW, I very much disagree with PP - do not consider the Shuffle to be CIO. When we were doing it, if my LO got really upset, I picked her up (the book - and my mama instinct - says that is totally fine!). To me, that's just not "CIO". Yes, you avoid picking them up unless they are truly upset and generally prefer to use verbal, light touch to soothe them instead, but either way, I don't consider it CIO since you're with them and comforting them during the training. My LO took to it pretty easily and within 3 days could put herself down to sleep and went to waking 1 - 2 times/night (which I considered to be totally normal for her age) and went from taking 20 min. cat naps to 60 - 120 minute real naps. And, this was going from a baby that we had to rock/nurse to sleep several times/night and put her down ever-so-gently praying that she wouldn't wake up so we could get 45 minutes of sleep.
Obviously, I'm a fan. That said, I do think all babies are different and it doesn't work for some babies. Good luck!
I can't blame you for wanting to sleep train. GL and hope all goes smoothly! I'm sort of at a loss as to hos to handle my situation, and it seems to be a newfound issue. Do I try to retrain? I really didn't need to sleep train the first time around, so im not sure if this is a wait it out type of thing or not. Either way, I'm tired and can certainly commiserate!
Eta sorry for hijacking your thread...this subject is just hitting the nail on the head for me right now!
Not worried about you hijacking the post
Like I said, this is definitely a newfound issue for us, so its been a bit rough on us, but last night we let him just fuss for a few minutes before going in and checking on him and although he still woke a couple times, it was really only for a few minutes and he'd fall back asleep. So its progress!
