My beautiful baby boy arrived on Thursday evening at 6:28 pm. 8lbs 7oz birth, 20.5" long and Scored a rockstar 9.9 on the Agpar. d I'm just in awe of this perfect little being I get
to call my own. Short story: He was born after 10 hours of hard core pit
induced labor, and 20 minutes of pushing. He came out with a full head of reddish blonde hair, which surprised the shit out of me since I was expecting a dark haired boy like his father!!!!!!!!
They started the Pit drip at 8am. My water broke on its own around 9am (Ok, I was REALLY happy I was at the hospital for this - that is MESSY!). There was some muconium in it, and it was a good motivation for me that Roo was ready and on his way, induction or not. As soon as the first round of monitoring was over, I got out of bed and labored in the tub for a few hours, then spent a significant amount of time walking the halls and rocking on the wood rocker (OMG I LOVED the rocker). Contractions were bare able until around 2pm
when I just became utterly exhausted. (From lack of sleep and laboring). Around 4pm I
got checked before going into the tub
again and was at 5cm, 80% effaced and at -2 station - Even though I had progressed, I just feeling
defeated since I was getting toe stage where I just needed a break, and my mind was starting to focus on pain management. The nurse came in while I was in the water and I asked for the
epi. DH said no (as previously instructed), my mother yelled at him and gave him the dirtiest look, and the nurse gave my
options, a narcotic called Stadol to take the edge off or the
epi. She informed me that the Stadol doesn't usually slow down progress or make the pain go away, just eases the pain of the contractions, and if I was able to, I'de be allowed to get out of bed after the initial dosage and monitoring . I told her to make me ask for it One more time. After 3 more
contractions, I opted for the Stadol (while cursing the Pitocin) so I could get some relief and a
nap in - I just didn't see how I was going to make it the project 5-7 hours of labor and pushing that was left. since it wouldn't force me to be immobile. This was around 5pm
I became High as a
fucking kite. Unbeknownst to me, Roo's heart rate started dropping pretty quickly, but steadied once they administered Oxygen. All I remember is
sleeping between contractions and dreaming of taking a shit. I started rolling
around trying to, in bed because getting to the toilet was just not an
option, and just kept moaning that I needed to poop. The nurse came in around 6:10 and heard me say, "I just need to
poop" and decided it was time to get the OB. She did an exam and next thing I known I'm being woken up told me
to start pushing. I was so high. So so high. They kept trying to get me to hold my legs and I couldn't figure it out, and I was getting frustrated. The bed wasn't working for
me and I asked to use the toilet. The nurse got me the birthing stool. With DH holding me from behind, I
pushed for 10 minutes and felt down and could feel his head. I started to take the biggest shit of my life

I'm incredibly happy with my birth story even though it wasn't the med
free natural one i had planned. (Damn PgAl status). We checked in Wednesday evening for cervadil preparation. I had been having minor contractions throughout the day and lost part of my mucus plug after 3 back to back acupuncture appointments and a membrane sweep, and was holding onto a thread of hope I had progressed and that they might send me home to see if I could get by on my own. No go, as I was still only 1cm and 50% effaced - same as the day before. For reasons unknown to me, the dr. decided against the Foley bulb and to administer Cervadil instead. It was a horrible sleepless night in L&D (FYW those beds are NOT meant for sleeping). I lost the rest of my mucus plug throughout the night, though the cervadil didn't do much more. WE were starting the day off already exhausted and starving, and I was dreading the induction.

I begged them to use to the olive oil to soften the perineum, and the OB made back on the bed to apply it .
Two more pushes and he was out. According to the nurse, I reached down and pulled him out of me - though all I really remember is this enormous rush of amazingness and disbelief when I first saw him. And frankly it was pretty fun being high for the pushing stage 
I have a second degree year and a labial
tear, most likely because it all just happened so fast and I was just
pushing so hard. I'm pretty sure I used lots of colorful words on the Dr. while she was stitching me up
All I can really say is this experience so far is SO AMAZING. The hospital staff was stellar, breastfeeding is going well so far (it took us a while to get the dance right) and we're now home and this all feel so surreal. I can't imagine being happier than I am right now.
To all of you that are PgAL right now, I can't wait for you to feel this way. And for those of you that are TTCAL, I will continue to wish upon every start that you are next. Thank you to ALL for all the support and love. I have learned so much from so many hear, and been held through the darkest days of my life. I can't imagine having gone through it without you. It was on the eve of Rosh Hashana 2 years ago I first found out I was pregnant. It is on the eve again that we truly start a new year, and a new life.
And don't tell DH I told you (the Bris isn't until Thursday), But we've named him Ori Jacob. Jacob after DH's father's father. Ori means "My Light" in Hebrew, and this little boy truly is - my light that has lead me out of the darkness.
