Multiples

Quick question?

I hope this hasn't been asked a million times but I have looked back and didn't see it.   I was wondering what symptoms you girls had in the first trimester??  I guess I assumed it was only one baby because I wasn't really having any.  My biggest thing is I am eating constantly.  I will go from not  hungry to starving and if I dont eat I feel sick.  Just tiny waves of nausea and peeing every 2 hours all night.  I guess I was thinking with higher hcg levels I would be having horrible morning sickness.   If you guys had morning sickness when did it start?  Just curious!  Thanks soo much!   (not that I am asking for horrible morning sickness.. just a wondering how you did?)

Re: Quick question?

  • Never had morning sicknesses with these guys or with dd. Only symptom that was worse for me in first trimester was fatigue, which has returned this past week (I'm 27 weeks).
  • I am 7w3d and so far just been extremely nauseous and throwing up maybe 3 times a week. Also really hungry but then go to eat and can't because I feel so sick hoping it goes away soon

  • Everyone is different, so don't worry too much - I've read posts from plenty of people who said they had zero morning sickness, or they were sicker with their singleton pregnancies than with the twins. I, on the other hand, was vomiting constantly and unable to keep even water down from about 5 weeks on; I was six weeks along when I found out I was having twins.

  • Everything was more intense w the twins. The big one being the exhaustion. We found out that it was twins early, just after 7w and before any major symptoms, but if we hadnt I would have chalked it up to working FT and chasing after a toddler.

  • Starting around 5 or 6 wks I had really bad morning sickness and fatigue. There were days I could not get out of bed. From 12- 16 wks I felt much better but would still have a couple bad day a week. Then after 16 wks I greatly improved. Now I'm 39 wks 2 day and waiting patiently.
  • I was extremely nauseous around week 6 and that's it. Besides exhaustion and food cravings I haven't any other symptoms. I'm 16w 5d.

Congratulations! Try not to worry too much :)
  • Other than exhaustion, all my symptoms were more mild with this [twin] pregnancy than it was with DD.

  • I felt much worse with my daughter than with these twins. I really have no symptoms at 11 weeks except for a bit of exhaustion. Gl!
  • My fatigue was worse with my singleton in my first trimester. But in my third its definitely worse now! No morning sickness but a little bit of nausea in the evenings this time round. Nothing to cry about though. I wouldn't have suspected twins which is another reason I was so shocked at my 12 week scan!
  • Thanks everyone!  You guys made me feel alot better!

  • I was nauseous before I even peed on a stick (which is really odd for me). The nausea got worse and stuck around until 14-15 weeks. I never puked. Just felt like crap. I was also extremely tired. Nothing that ever made me think that I was having twins.

Another weird thing was that my pregnancy tests were getting darker MUCH faster. So fast that at one point my First Response test line was so dark it pulled all the color from the control line.

  • I had awful m/s starting @ 5 weeks with my twins. That was one of the things that convinced me I was carrying more than one even before we had our first u/s. It was that horrible all day and all night "I could puke at any moment" kind of nausea and it didn't let up until 13-14 weeks or so. I was definitely more fatigued with my twin pregnancy as well, but I also had a toddler to keep up with at that point.

  • I had a lot of nausea but never actually got sick in my first trimester. I was also VERY fatigued, I think moreso than with my first (singleton) pregnancy, but that could be because I had to also care for a very active toddler this time around and didn't get to nap/veg on the couch whenever I felt like it. ;) With my singleton pregnancy I had a lot of food aversions, but none with this pregnancy.

  • Sounds like my experience exactly! At my 7 week scan, I thought they would find a blighted ovum, since I was having no symptoms at all - nope: twins! I had kind of what you described: I would get a bit off if I hadn't eaten for a while, but I also had no appetite. I was incredibly tired though and fell asleep on the couch every night at 8p.m., but peed like 100000 times each night. At 18+ weeks, my fatigue has eased off and now I am hungry for anything and can put away food like it is no one's business. Getting my appetite back was awesome.
