My DD is always congested with a cough. That's how it starts anyway, then I will notice she starts rubbing at her hair that's above her ear that hurts (both have been infected at different times) but only when I lay her back to feed her a bottle. Also we usually having crappy sleep at night, but she's not the greatest sleeper, or the worst, I just usually notice a difference.
Hope that helps.
TTC for 1.5 years with a crappy RE. 12 cycles with clomid (11 too many)
DS has always sort of rubbed his ears, but lately it has been a lot more frequent, and he has a terribly runny ose and a cough, and his sleep has gone to sh*t. No fevers and not overly cranky, but definitely more cranky than usual. I think I will take DS in to the doctor to be sure. Thanks.
My LO doesnt always run a fever with her ear infections either. It usually starts with congestion then maybe a scream fest one day and even some throw up in the mix. So much fun! She is actually sick right now, I am hoping her ears wont get infected again before her tubes get put in.
It's a REALLY easy surgery - let me calm your fears. No surgery/anesthesia is without risk, but it literally takes them about 15 minutes. The worst is your child's walking up after being "under" - I imagine easier the younger they are. My DD had this done at 23 months - well worth it. Now my DS had another surgery this year, and that was much more involved. Ear tubes are a piece of cake - no pain - they are themselves within an hour or two after surgery. And we've been ear infection-free for 5 months now..knock on wood.

Well as I am waiting for the 9th to roll around, my LO has another double ear infection. She is running out of options for antibiotics. At least by the time she gets done with her medicine it will be about time for her surgery. My son had ear tubes put in twice plus his adnoids and tonsils taken out. It was the best thing for him, he is never sick now!
Re: Ear Tubes
I hope everything goes well.
