If DD doesn't nap...

I am gonna lose it. I posted earlier in the week that I have been having trouble getting my 2.5 year old to nap. She normally naps for 2 hrs in the afternoon, but after several weeks of being off schedule due to vacation and summer outings, she is not sleeping. She plays in her crib the entire nap, which is great, but then she is a mess all afternoon. She becomes wild, cranky and impossible. It is also much harder to get her to sleep at night because she is extremely over tires, wired and cranky at night (even with an earlier bed time). I am trying to stay consistent with her schedule to get her back on track. I truly hope this is a short lived phase because it totally sucks

  • BTDT.  Stay consistent, it will end.

My DD2 has always been a shitty sleeper.  She didn't STTN until she was, like, 9 months old.  She regressed about two months ago and had straight-up meldtowns every single time I tried to put her in bed.  I'm talking "someone's being murdered" screaming.  But, like your DD, she was a mess if she didn't get some sleep.  So I finally just told myself that it's better for her to cry in her crib and for me to cry in my room if it means she'll get some sleep and adopt a better schedule.  It was rough for a while but it was worth it.  She's back to sleeping like a champ.

  • DS used to nap 3 hours in the afternoons. He is going to be 3 in November and if he does nap I am lucky if it is before 3:30. I am jealous yours is still in a crib because he trashes his room if he doesn't feel like sleeping. He still stays up until 9 and whines the whole time. The baby isn't much of a napper lately either so I was going crazy lasy week.
