Panic: retiring DSNG

I think at 6.5 months my twins are finally outgrowing their DSNG. Actually, the one riding in the back has had to fold her legs for a while. I'm so sad. Any advice? I have a double city mini, which I love, but I feel like it's such a pain to get them in and out of their carseats (especially if they're sleeping). Any tips? Should I switch to convertible car seats? I know it's silly, but I've become really reliant on the DSNG and am anxious about this.

Re: Panic: retiring DSNG

  • I remember being really nervous about this, too but my babies really seemed much happier and more comfortable when I switched them to convertible car seats and our stroller. It is a bit of a pain to take them out once they're sleeping but I've been known to get coffee at a drive through and just keep driving so they take a nap (assuming I don't have anywhere I have to be). Add in a muffin and some good music to listen to and it's like a little date with yourself. Also, if they're really tired I've been able to get them out of their car seats and to their cribs without really waking them up. You can do it. Good luck!

Thanks. I keep putting it off another week. Is it easier to get babies out of convertible carseats? It seems tricky to get mine out of the infant ones while they're in the car. Maybe it's time to retire our infant seats as well :(
  • Yes, I panicked when I realized we were nearing the end of our DSNG, too! (Mostly because of daycare drop offs and pickups.) We just got a used double maclaren because it was small, lightweight, and easy to collapse when we switched them out of their infant seats, and everything was A-OK. We have another stroller and a wagon for other activities. They were so much more comfortable in the convertible seats!
