A&A Dream Blankets?

Tell me the difference between classic and bamboo, please. Is one softer than the other? DD LOVES blankets, especially her A&A swaddle ones, and I want a heavier one for cooler temps.

Re: A&A Dream Blankets?

  • Bamboo is softer, and more eco friendly.
This is only partially true. Bamboo is readily availabable and renewable, but the process to make it isn't very clean yet. That said, the bamboo is soo soft.

I just bought one for Nolan that will be here tomorrow. I didn't buy the bamboo.  Bamboo is considered a renewable resource because it's very fast growing so I think that's why it's considered eco friendly.

Buuuuut...if you notice under the description it actually says Rayon and the swaddle blankets now say Rayon from Bamboo.

The Federal Trade Commission, the nation’s consumer protection agency, wants you to know that the soft “bamboo” fabrics on the market today are rayon. They are made using toxic chemicals in a process that releases pollutants into the air. Extracting bamboo fibers is expensive and time-consuming, and textiles made just from bamboo fiber don’t feel silky smooth.

There’s also no evidence that rayon made from bamboo retains the antimicrobial properties of the bamboo plant, as some sellers and manufacturers claim. Even when bamboo is the “plant source” used to create rayon, no traits of the original plant are left in the finished product.

  • The bamboo is way softer and wears better. It gets snugglier after each wash.

  • I don't have a store that carries the bamboo.  I know she likes the classic muslin, so I'll probably just stick with that.  Thanks, ladies!
