I was leaving the store parking lot Tuesday, and there was a woman with three kids, looked to be around a year old up to maybe 4-5? The youngest went into a FF car seat in the middle and the two older kids sat on either side, no booster, no FF seat, not sure they put on seatbelts or not. I was a judgey hor. Then I felt bad cause I thought that maybe with that many kids and in the poorer side of town (the local middle school is 98% economically challenged) they probably didn't have money for boosters and RF seats and just used what they already had. So then I felt guilty for judging. But not guilty enough to not be all WTF anyway.

Re: I judged...
The booster seat law here is until 8 years old unless they are over 4'8" or 9".

lolz, you don't need a booster past 12, puberty is setting in and ossifying your hip bones, which takes over for the booster (the "arms" on a backless act as hip bones) and protect internal organs. Most kids can fit properly in a seat belt around 10 - 12, depending on their torso height and the car.
And don't worry, no one will make fun (unless your kids have douchey friends). Two of mine were (see siggy) until they reached the limits of their boosters, in times when most stopped using anything past six, if they used anything at all. Their friends fight over sitting in them because we've got the kind with memory foam and they are way more comfy.
