Question.. ??

I am a STM and am having this terrible upper stomach pain/tenderness really. Feels like my muscles down center of my stomach are going to tear in half. It hurts to even touch like a very bad bruise or something. Now I do remember this with my son but not this bad. My belly button even hurts like hell to touch it. I went last night and bought a belly support belt. Wore it at work today for 12 hrs and didnt really help at all. I'm a nurse so I do 12 hr shifts and it doesn't seem to start hurting til around mid day maybe. I don't feel this is anything serious just more of a muscular pain. Just curious if anyone else has this and what did you do to help it?

Sorry so long!!

Re: Question.. ??

  • Yikes, I can only imagine what my body would be feeling like if I spent 12 hours on my feet! Hopefully you can find something that helps. Good luck!

  • I'd call your OB just to make sure it's all good. I had a muscular pain near my belly button. It felt similar to how you're describing - like my muscles were going to tear apart.  It didn't bother me at the beginning of the day but as the day progressed (especially during days when I spent a lot of time on my feet), it got worse.  I also noticed that the baby kicked in that area a lot. I ruled out hernia and any other things I could think of, but to play it safe I called my OB.

The nurse said that it was likely just soar from the baby, and that this can happen.  She advised I sit in a warm bath, or try tylenol.  She also told me that unless I was experiencing contractions or cramping, bleeding, etc. with it, that it was probably exactly what I described - muscle pain.  She also advised wearing a support band (especially because as I get bigger, it may get worse due to gravity).

I didn't get any grand answer, but it definitely confirmed my concerns and helped put my mind at ease.  I would recommend if you're concerned, you should call. It never hurts to run it by the doctor/nurse.

    Hope you feel better soon!!

  • The area directly below my right breast has heart to touch for weeks. The Dr. Said the baby is pushing non stop in that area. Maybe it's similar to you, but call your Dr just to check
  • Yeah, ftm but had this similar problem. It hurts so you have my sympathy. I actually had a bruise all around my navel. I work as a nurse too and found that turning the back support backwards ( so the part that is supposed to be supporting your back was against my abdominal muscles) helped a ton as did lots of ice when i got off work

This. Mine has literally hurt since about 20wks. It feels like the day after you get a burn, kind of sore, kind of bruisey. OB said it was normal. Could be muscles pulling apart etc.
