Diaper bag recs?

I bought a JuJuBe Be Prepared hardly used from another twin mom. When I got it in the mail it was HUGE. I've also heard people recommend the Skip Hop Duo diaper bag. Which one is it? The Skip Hop Duo Double Deluxe or the Skip Hop Duo Deluxe?

I'm debating on whether to keep the JuJuBe Be Prepared based on the size and maybe looking at the Skip Hop. I had a Skip Hop with DD and really liked it.

Do I really need that big of a bag for the twins (the Be Prepared)?

Re: Diaper bag recs?

  • No advice, but I am wondering the same thing. How much extra stuff do you really carry with two vs 1?

  • I ordered and returned both the BFF and Be Prepared. They were both too heavy with nothing in them. I then bought a Carter's bag which is too small. You can't win :)

  • I have a standard size diaper bag (Kate spade Stevie) and find it to be perfectly spacious. I've heard good things about the skip hop though. I'm thinking if the other one is that big you might not need all the room, although it never hurts!

  • Yea the Be Prepared is huge, but depending on the trip, I am wondering if that space might be welcome! Especially if you think of all the things you could possibly need.  With my first I was always an underpacker and only packed the bare minimum but with a 3 year old and twins I think I might actually want to be more prepared...lol.

I love that bag but did you really pay $200-$300 for it? :-O

I bought the Vera Bradley Messanger and not only love the size, but it is super lighweight!! Plus, I can carry it cross body and leave my hands free:)
  • Honestly, we use a back pack from Target. There are plenty of compartments, it's gender neutral (for my husband) and we're left hands free which is a must when you're by yourself. I had a cute cross body diaper bag but found this to be MUCH more practical for us.

It was a gift but I believe it was purchased on sale at the outlet store.

  • I had JuJuBe BePrepared. It was indeed too huge for even twins. My husband hated it. I use Petunia Picklebottom Touring Tote now, which works perfectly (granted, my twins are almost 3, and I only need to pack juiceboxes or water bottles, not bottles. I still have the BePrepared which is great for weekend getaways.

  • I use the petunia picklebottom abundance boxy backpack and LOVE it. I had it for my son and will be using it again for the twins. It has a built in changing station that is a really nice feature. and its a backpack (can be carried as a normal bag) freeing up both hands to carry two babies. It holds up very well and isnt too heavy. easy to organize and clean. just over all a nice bag.

  • I also got the JJB Be Prepared and while my twins are not here yet with us doing cloth diapers all the other bags were way too small. I returned the BFF as I felt with cloth that was even too small. I don't think it's too heavy. I've come to realize that twin equipment ie-strollers, bags are going to be heavier than what is needed for a singleton. I also plan to keep some items in my car so that the diaper bag doesn't need to be filled to the brim every time we go out.

I really contemplated about the PPB Boxy backpack but did not like the black hole that it was.

  • I have the PPB boxy backpack and like it. It holds plenty for now (my twins are 6 months), I usually only use 50% of it. Love the fold out changing pad. I do wish it had more compartments...for the most part it is just one big (as PP said) black hole. The option to wear it as a backpack or messenger is great.
  • I use the petunia pickle bottom boxy backpack too. Just the standard not the abundance. I has the twins and a 2 year old worth of diapers and such in it and we are good!
  • Anyone have the JJ Cole Satchel? I had the JJ Cole Technique with DD also and I really liked it. Probably would have been a great size for the twins but I freakin sold it once DD was PTd.

  • Abundance boxy PPB! Love love love it! We use it for long trips and I just use my coach tote for short trips like to the grocery store.

  • We just got the Skip Hop Bento bag. It has a container at the bottom for snacks and comes with a little freezer pack. It's very roomy and looks like it'll be great for a few years.
  • I second the Kate Spade Stevie. If I'm going somewhere all day, I just take another bag (a coach packable tote) but its only like all day affairs that I need the other bag. My normal size diaper bag is the perfect size for most days out.
