I love Samantha as a full name, but I also dislike Sam. It always seemed inevitable to me, but maybe it's not as much as I think? Anything short goes with Samantha, like Jane, Mae, Bluthe, Pearl, Grace, Rose, Fae...
I really like Samantha - but not the seemingly inevitable NN Sam. Although I do think you can successfully have her go by Samantha if you make that clear to people. I've witnessed Elizabeth's stay Elizabeth, Christina's stay Christina, etc.
I only like the nicknames Sam and Sammie, but DD decided in Kindergarten that she was going to be Samantha and only the family can call her Sammie now.

And I will add, if you absolutely HATE the nicknames, don't do it. Your kids will probably decide whatever you want to call her is not what she wants to go by at some point.

Obviously Sam or Sammy for nn, but I know a lot that go by just Samantha.
I like Samantha lots!

I'm a Samantha Nicole. I think it flows well I've also heard and liked Samantha Jane.
I chose to go by Sam growing up (with a 3 syllable last name) and now with 1 syllable LN.
Sammy/Sammi/Sammie was always too girly for me, but lots of girls went by those NNs.
