I'm so sick of hearing about mucus plugs. I don't want to hear about its color, size, shape, or even the fact that you lost yours... It's effing nasty and no one gives a shit! Plus it really means nothing in terms of when labor will start.
We also don't need play by plays of every doctor visit. No one cares about your cervical progress and what you think it means in relation to when you will go into labor. We are all going through the same things, there's no need at AW the fact that your body is doing what it's supposed to do.
My UO is that I think there are more people complaining about people talking about mucous plugs than people actually talking about mucous plugs.
But I do agree that a play-by-play of every doctors appointment gets old. There tons of people on this board and we're pretty much all going into weekly appointments at this point. Unless something crazy happened, you don't really need to share. We all know what happens at doctors appointments. We're all dilating and effacing and hanging out waiting to go into labor (or hanging out waiting for scheduled inductions/csections).
Now I'm at the end of this pregnancy, I'm super tired and irritable. I work at a commercial construction office, and I'm sick of these redneck, fat bellied men walking in and saying, "You ain't had that baby yet?" Geeze!? Does it look like I've had the baby yet???? Their other comment is, "Your belly is as big as mine!"..... Exactly what is that suppose to mean? I told them mine would be gone much faster than theirs... Still f** off! If you can't bring me a cupcake or something to make me feel better, go away!
Since my son isn't the center of a fashion show, I really couldn't give less of a shit what his clothing looks like. Stripes, words, brands, disney characters, all of that. As long as it matches, isn't offensive and isn't girl clothes, if people gifted me clothing he's probably gonna wear it. Don't kids get dirty? I'm preparing myself that I will probably change him 2-3 times more often than I currently imagine.
I mean, don't get me wrong, I might look at something and say "that isn't my style." But that just means I probably wouldn't have bought it myself. That's the thing, I haven't had to buy any clothes so far, and I am very grateful. I shrug and put it in the drawer! Am I the minority on this one?
@jjkaye I get what you're saying, seriously. But when you wrote "call me in a month" all I could think of was "call me when you get your head out of your ass." A month? I could maybe see a trimester, but a month.
Bar the fact that I've had what most describe an "easy" pregnancy (as if any pregnancy is easy?) but I almost feel timid complaining in vent posts about the minor stuff I'm suffering through, when everyone else compared to me is soooo much worse.
I just think we need to skip this judgmental type thinking is all. At this point the only posters I judge are the ones who ask ridiculous questions that they should know the answer to by now, because that reflects their intellectual capacity and resourcefulness, not how much they can physically or mentally tolerate during pregnancy. If they're asking on Sept moms board, and they're due around the same time as us, they've had plenty of time to research their pregnancy.

This just made me want to think of a really silly question to ask in jest, but I'm too tired to think of one haha
My UO is that I don't want to and probably won't have my cervix checked. I don't see any sense in possibly bleeding a little and making myself uncomfortable when I don't have to.
I finally thought of one... I don't mind when people feel my belly. It happens more and more the bigger I get :-) Don't tell me I look huge, but feel free to touch. Even if you are a stranger. I am growing a baby, and I think it is a miracle. And, I touch it all the time too.
I finally have a UO. This isn't a stab at anyone particular, just personal taste.
I don't care for maternity pictures where all the mom-to-be does is hold her belly. In every picture. I understand like maybe 1 or 2, but when the belly is already the focus of the photos, why emphasize more? That and the fact that it looks extremely unnatural to just be casually holding your belly all the time. I think it's more #2 reason for me.
That being said, even belly-holding pictures are dear and adorable. But for me, it's a NMS thing.
I know what you are saying and can agree with you. The only thing is that I am always holding my belly, but not in the cutesie way they do it in pictures. I am always awkwardly holding it as I waddle as quickly as possible to the bathroom. I can imagine I get judged a lot by my coworkers.
My UO is that I think there are more people complaining about people talking about mucous plugs than people actually talking about mucous plugs.

There's actually been 4-5 posts in just the last week about mucous plugs, not counting all the daily updates of how dilated people are and how their cervical check felt.
@Susanb887 Omg yes! I had the easiest pregnancy with my first but I'm really hurting this time around. In my second tri my ob warned me I'd be in a lot more pain and I was thinking she was exaggerating, but everything literally hurts all the time. I can't wait to give birth!
I think it's stupid that people get all judgey and bent out of shape about someone wanting to do what they can to get things moving. I readily admit that I have been doing my damnedest to get labor started for the past week.
No one cares about your cervical progress and what you think it means in relation to when you will go into labor.
For the love of all that is holy, YES! I have stopped responding to these threads because I felt like I was repeating myself over and over again.
Your cervix is not a crystal ball. Your OB doesn't stare into its depths and determine the date your baby will be born. Dilation is not an indication that your body is ready to go into labor any minute or that you will even go into labor at all.

I'm tired of the DH vent/brag posts. If you wouldn't post it on your facebook wall for your friends and family to read then you probably shouldn't post it "anonymously" on TB. Yay he brought you your favorite candy!! Sorry he didn't give you the orgasm you wanted. Get a diary.

It's possible I just block them out, but I really don't feel like I read about them on this board very often. And if they're in the "appt update" posts then I lump them in with my second statement that no one needs a play-by-play of your OB appt. I have my own to enjoy, lol!
I'm sick of people due in late September bitching about their aching backs and feet and pressure.
Call me in a month. I'm not more deserving of sympathy because I'm further along, I just majorly roll my eyes anytime I see those complaints.
meh, every pregnancy is different. My back started aching at around 12 weeks due to my SPD and has only gotten worse (such that now I qualify for handicapped parking), but I doubt my swelling will ever get to the proportions of many on this board. And even though the baby is jabbing my ribs and pelvis at once these days, if it's small like DS was I don't think I'll ever suffer as much as the moms carrying above-average-sized fetuses.

During the 1st tri (maybe beginning of 2nd tri for others) I saw complaints about cutting toenails and how hard it was and gave major eye roll. Having BTDT I could only think, "wait until you're 8 months along".
As someone due in late September with a 20 month old at home: OMG is this so much harder this time around. I feel worse now than I did the week before having DD.
oh and this, too! It is worse the 2nd time around...mostly! A few things are better but most of it is not.
I think it's stupid that people get all judgey and bent out of shape about someone wanting to do what they can to get things moving. I readily admit that I have been doing my damnedest to get labor started for the past week.
I think it's ridiculous to try and kick your LO out before they are even due. You do realize they are still developing in there, right?
Yeahhhhh but you also said that there is no OWT that people can do to induce labor before the baby and body are ready so really who the hell cares
I have another UO that maybe isn't that unpopular- I love how bitchy we are all becoming towards the end of the pregnancies. :-) I am usually overly nice in real life and lately I am barely holding a grip on civil discourse. Annnnnd I just don't care! Woo hormones!

If you want to waste your time and energy, have at it. It's the mindset I find annoying, not the actions.
Fair enough. I just see a lot of people getting all outraged about it and I'm like "oh calm down, who cares" .....then again, I find a lot of things annoying for no real reason so actually, have at it and bitch away!
My ex husband actually complained to me about how bad his back is hurting!!! As I'm waddling down the ramp at my daughter's school at 37+4! He's the one that's gained about 30 pounds, don't complain to me right now! Nor do I really care that my EX's back hurts!
I am so tired of the looks!!! When I walk into a store or anywhere, I get that LOOK! Like, omg, she's gonna pop! I just want to smile and wave!!!
I also think it's pretty bullshit to roll your eyes at people who are experiencing discomfort a month behind you. So what? EVERY pregnancy is different. It effects everyone differently. You don't get to discount someone else's symptoms because you're further along than them. Talk about being self righteous.
Agreed- I had excruciating back pain during the first trimester, so bad that there were days I couldn't walk. It went away until this week, when I collapsed at work because of back muscle spasms. I'm still not due for several more weeks, but I know that everyone experiences different symptoms at different times, and to varying degrees of severity, so not gonna hate on anyone complaining
My UO: Tutus on children outside of ballet class is over the top hideous.
srsly?
This. You can almost not see the kid in the picture. And beyond that, like a PP said, why does the top need to be mesh/see-through?
What also gets me, and this might get me flamed, but bikinis and short skirts/shorts on toddlers and young girls. You may think that you kid is cute and innocent, but that pedophile staring at her is thinking the exact same thing. I saw a little girl, maybe 8-ish?, a couple of weeks ago. She was wearing shorts that showed her cheeks, a shirt that barely covered her midriff and was all torn and junk. This is horrible of me to say, but she looked like a little prostitute and her mom was right next to her. I couldn't believe that she let her kid dress like that. It made me rage.

I'm more perplexed by what this child has on her head than her dress. Aren't babies this age half-naked all the time anyway? Embarrassing in-the-tub pics, anyone?

Seriously what is that thing on her head
It looks like a cabbage or a head of lettuce dyed red.
Maybe I'm a weird one, but I have my hands on my belly and holding it and rubbing it ALL THE TIME. It's probably obnoxious to other people, but it feels natural to me.
This
I dont remember what i did with my hands before pregnancy lol
I don't remember what it was like not being pregnant. Seriously.
I can remember like February when my pants started not fitting, but that's about it. I can't remember December when I could drink, or what it was like pulling on skinny jeans. Memory = gone.

@redfallon What does a braxton hicks feel like?? I'm not sure if I'm having one or not!!!! Should I call the doctor?
True story, I bugged a friend last night about some abdominal pain I was having. i was induced with DS and never felt a contraction so I'm terrified I'm going to miss signals and end up giving birth in the back of my car.
@starinyte "your cervix is not a crystal ball" is my new favorite phrase ever.
That's what friends are for, not message boards. At least you could talk to her about it and confide in her because she cares for you, knows you personally/your pregnancy, and can help you come to a plan of action.
I realize not everyone has these friends -- but then that's what the on call OB is for.

Some kind of growth, maybe?
OR! Maybe she's a real life cabbage patch kid!
I love how the parent said, "Hmmmm.... that cabbage on her head isn't quite enough. I don't want anyone thinking my baby ain't fancy! She just looks too plain. Let's put another cabbage on her stomach"
I think it's stupid that people get all judgey and bent out of shape about someone wanting to do what they can to get things moving. I readily admit that I have been doing my damnedest to get labor started for the past week.
I agree. I think there's a difference between doing something crazy to try to start labor at <36 weeks, but if you are doing something totally approved (like having sex) and say that you don't mind if it helps things along, who cares!! I listened to a podcast that said that for every time you have sex in the last month, you could potentially take 10 minutes off your labor time.
Going off of this, I think that its ironic that some of the same people who snark at those trying to move things along, are also the same people who say 'labor will start when your body/baby is ready'. Ok, so then what does it matter if someone is trying to move things along?
January 2009: Goodbye TR (13 weeks)
February 2010: Welcome DD1!
March 2011: Welcome DD2!
Another one: I really dislike any writing or text on baby/kids clothes. My LO will not have any articles of clothing that say "Mommy's little Man" or anything like that. I prefer plain stuff.
This. He is a baby, not a billboard. I don't need his onesies to say "Chick Magnet", "Tough Guy", "Little Stud", etc.
I'm sick of being kind to people while I'm pregnant. I used to seriously side eye people who use pregnancy as an excuse to be mean, but my bitch pants are on and I just want to sit in a cave with my chips, some crappy TV and my loathing of everyone and they're annoying ways.
Hopefully I feel less like this soon?
Can I come with you? I'll be quiet, I swear. And I have Reece's peanut butter cups...
