Bedrest after Transfer

We just did our ER on Monday, and our transfer is scheduled for Day 5 (saturday). Just wondering how many days you were on bedrest for?
My clinic says only the day of, but i'm wondering if other clinics suggest longer?

  • Same as weeklyplanner.  Bed/couch rest day of, and two days after with no showers.  Only getting up to use the bathroom.  Minimize any abdominal movement/strains.  Limited activity following bedrest (no lifting over 10 lbs) until betas were complete.  Every RE is different.  I've read a lot of REs now don't even require bedrest because studies have not shown that this increases chances of success.  Plus when people get pregnant naturally they don't do bedrest.
2nd ectopic resulted in loss of tube. HSG revealed remaining tube is "severely torqued".

  • My RE just said take it easy. I had no bed rest requirements.
  • Bed rest for 24 hours but could get up to get food. I sat up to eat. My transfer fell on a Thursday afternoon so I took it easy the whole weekend- not bed rest but I really only left the house to go out to eat one night. I walked around the house a lot tho- I just steered away from house cleaning and laundry.

  • Light bed rest for 24 hours.  Pretty much just "couch potato" status.  I can take a quick shower, eat at the table, us but that's about it.  After that, no strenuous exercise and no lifting over 10 pounds at least until beta.

  • I'm on bed rest right now after my ET yesterday and I'm so bored. Usually I long to take it easy like this but right now, I'm tired and my mind is all over the place and I just want to shower and go outside. But I promised myself I would do the full 48 hours my RE recommends. Last time for my failed IVF, my husband got the flu the night of my transfer and our power went out so needless to say, I did not get rest. But I'm going to get up and have a normal, if lazy day, tomorrow and Saturday and then Sunday, I'm actually going to try to go the state fair. I love the fair and figure if I take it easy and avoid the animal barns, it will be okay.

  • My doctor says 48 hours bedrest after transfer. I was allowed to get up and shower or make something to eat, but she said to not be up for more than 15 minutes at a time. I was supposed to keep my feet in the same plane as my pelvis so I was allowed to sit up. I did it the first time, but this last transfer I went back to work the next day.

  • Neither my previous or current RE required any form of bed rest. My first IVF, no bed rest....2nd, took it easy....3rd , full on couch potato.....4th, had ET on my lunch break LOL....all BFN. For my 1st FET I took the day off work to couch potato it up but it's more of a mental health day to get away from my workplace at this point I don't believe that bed rest will make my blasts stick...but that's just cynical little old me :)

Mine was 2 days for fresh cycle and 0 for FET...they told me that they are more concerned that your ovaries are enlarged after a fresh cycle and can twist, which is very painful and serious....they lifted the bedrest for FET, because you are not stimulating the ovaries.

I'm still giving myself bedrest these two days after my FET....just in case :) - Best of luck to you on Saturday!!
