1st Clomid

The nurse found two follicles on the right today, which is day 10 after Clomid and cd19. One was 14mm and the other 16mm. My lining is only 6.1 and needs to be at 7.something. If my opk reads pos tomorrow I will need to go in for a sonogram tomorrow to check my lining. What are the chances of conceiving on Clomid on the first round? I probably need to curb my enthusiasm.

Ectopic pregnancy is one of the common side effects of Clomid, isn't it?

It sure does happen and I am proof!  We conceived on our first round of Clomid 50mg though sadly ended in m/c.  Good luck on getting that BFP and your take home baby!

I'm so sorry for your loss hydrangeagirl. Do you think the mc was caused by the Clomid?

My RE has assured me repeatedly that Clomid does not cause m/c.  We've had two m/c on Clomid and he says the only function of Clomid is to induce ovulation/promote stronger ovulation.  Since every test we've had is negative for problems, I attribute our repeated losses to poor egg quality, although my RE refuses to confirm this.  

Give Clomid a try!  Just be aware that some ladies experience horrendous side effects taking it.  Thankfully, I never had any though always took it at night (RE said taking it at night reduces side effects.)

That's reassuring hydrangeagirl. Thank you. I took my first round at night after experiencing some side effects on the first day. I agree, it did reduce the side effects.

Sorry that I missed reading in your post that you already started Clomid.  I hope this is your magical cycle!

I have a friend who went through Ivf. She is 34. When we were talking about it I was shocked to learn she was a clomid baby. So in other words, clomid has been around for 30+ years and if there was a problem with it (miscarriage related) it wouldn't still be around. Just from its function of inducing ovulation I can't imagine why it would cause more miscarriages. So I wouldn't worry about that.

I wish you the best with your first time trying Clomid.  The ladies are right.....there are plenty of women that have gotten pregnant on it and have their take home babies.....don't give up hope!

I tried it three times, but it didn't work for me, but that is just my case.  I am a bit older than you, when I tried it.  I think my first time was at 40, so it could be my age....

Your chances go up depending on your follies.  Two mature follies ups your chances of conception.  

Clomid is notorious for thinning out your lining though!  Good that you are being monitored!

Update: my lining is thick enough . It's at 8 or 9. The follies are at 16mm & 16.4mm, so they may both ovulate. This should increase my chances of conception So, I will be using opks, waiting for a pos and having sex every other day until I see the positive, just in case. My next RE visit is Monday. I'm feeling excited!

It makes having to work this weekend and our a/c outage more bearable.

All these back to school posts are making me really long for a baby.

Now the follies are at 19mm & 20mm. My lining is at 9. My OPK was positive today. All is looking good. There has been plenty of baby dancing this week. My next sono is Wednesday, when the nurse will check whether it looks like I ovulated. I'm a little nervous bc RE wants to put me on oral progesterone to prevent spotting that I usu get on 3dpo.

dont stress about the progesterone... it is fairly common.. and other than make you a little bloated.. and feel pregos.. its not to bad if you take it at night..

Thanks PPoppy. I have worked on a HRT multi-district litigation, so taking hormones make me a bit uneasy. Hopefully, I will only have to take them a short duration and they will cause no harm.

Well, the RE says one follie definitely looks like it ovulated, but the other may or may not have. I was rx prometrium and I start it tomorrow to keep me from spotting. I'm pretty scared because if I am pregnant I have to stay on it for 7 to 10 weeks.

Today is my first day on the Prometrium. I have felt dizzy, tender breasts, fatigued and bloated. I'm not sure whether to report these symptoms to my RE or if its par for the course.
