DS wore his from one month on and it made a huge difference. We never really had a problem with teething pain, he has never has an earache. There were a few times my mom would forget to put it on after giving DS a bath and he was much more fussy and cranky. At 3YO he still wears it constantly and will remind you to put it back on "Momma my neckace!!!" LOL I wore one as a bracelet after I broke my wrist and it helped in the winter with stiffness and aching. The LO will definitely be getting one too.
The lighter the color the more succinic acid it contains. I got a mixed color one for DS, since it seemed a little more "boy".
I never had much teething trouble with mine so I never used it, but my mother loved it with my youngest sibling. He's three and is still not seen without it on. I honestly don't know if it helped the teething pain or if she just liked the way it looked and the statement it made.
I read also that raw vs. polished is equally as important, as raw has a higher amount of succinic acid. Since I am having a boy, I would prefer a darker color, but figure if I go with darker and raw it should be ok.
We have had one on DS since 3 or 4 months. Either it is working like a charm or he just doesn't suffer from teething pains. I'm inclined to think that it IS working and I recommend it's use to anyone that complains about their babies having teething issues.
I like to call it his "magic necklace" for my friends that are skeptical. I wear one also. I hear it helps with morning sickness and with breastfeeding pain. And, I just think it looks cool. : )
DD has worn one since she got her first tooth at 9 months old and has NEVER had problems teething. No fevers, no fussing. I have to look for new teeth in her mouth because she never shows signs of teething.
I'm a believer and #2 will definitely wear one, too.

We've had one on dd since about 6 months. She wears it constantly, except for the one week it disappeared after a bath while she was cutting molars. That was a bad week. I believe in them completely now!
