When did your LO maximize the absorbency of the Lil' Joeys? We have all OS for DS1 and I don't really don't like prefolds so I was thinking of using AIOs instead. The other option would be S'bish snapless minis if the Lil' Joeys are going to max out before LO will fit into the OSs that we have.

We outgrew the absorbency before OS. He is a very small baby though.

We outgrew the Lil Joeys absorbency within a month. I found the Newborn Simplex and Blueberry Mini lasted longer. The Blueberry still fits (a little over 2 months now) but she has outgrown the absorbency of the insert. I stuff an Applecheeks bamboo insert in there and it works great! Newborn size, with big diaper absorbency

Lil Joeys almost always leaked for us. We didn't start CDing until 2 weeks.

Boo. I'm not liking the responses so far. Any other recommendations for newborn size pockets or AIOs that do work longer?

I second the newborn simplex. The simplex are still fitting at 13 weeks, but I don't like that they take forever to dry.

Also the Tots Bots Tini Fit are really nice. They dry really fast, but I retired it a while ago because the rise was too short.

I had Lil Joeys, too. DS never leaked with them, but they just became too small for him.

What about GMD workhorses? We had a few of those in newborn and small that we liked.

Obviously, I enjoyed our selection of newborn diapers! Maybe you could do a newborn diaper rental?

This.  Except I started at a little less than a week.  Lil Joey's just didn't do it for us.

Our nb simplex AIO however are still going strong!  I'll echo @littkek though, they do take ages to dry.

DD outgrew the absorbency of Lil Joey's by 1 month old.  That was when we started CDing (I had a small nb stash but wasn't able to use it due issues during my recovery), so she leaked the first time I ever put Lil Joey's on her.  I was able to use KLOs, Thirsties Fab Fitteds, and some WAHM fitteds with covers for a few more weeks before switching to OS.

I have THX NB AIO's (lil joey knockoffs). We haven't had leak issues, but DS is on the brink of outgrowing both the diaper and its absorbency at 5 weeks old. He can only wear these diapers during the day and not for naptime.

We also use Lovely Pocket Diapers' NB dipes. They're double-gusseted, stuffable NB Alva AIO's with a custom snap-down for the umbilical cord. They're okay. The leg holes are weird due to a lack of elastic all the way around, so sometimes they leak.

If I were to repurchase NB dipes, I would get all Kawaii P&N's and use sposies until the cord fell off. The fit and absorbency are great.

We LOVED our li'l joeys...outgrew absorbency before OS, though. The NB simplex were amazing up until 12+ weeks. They overlapped with our OS.

DS outgrew the absorbency of the Lil Joeys around two weeks. We loved them until then though. He's almost a month now and we're using the kawaii pure and naturals almost exclusively.

My DD outgrew absorbency at 5 weeks. They definitely fit her the best up until then though.

Our lil joeys lasted til OS, I think it depends on what OS you use. They lasted til 4 weeks for anytime, and til 6 weeks during the day (we also used kissas fleece fitteds and RaRz nb cover til 12 weeks). FB elite OS fit at 2 weeks, applecheeks a bit after, RaRz g2 by 4 weeks. Other brands mostly didn't fit til 8 weeks (BG 4.0, simplex AIO, tots bots, happy Heinys all for one).
