Finger prick at 12 month apt

Reading the post below has me a little worried. DS has never had a finger prick. He had a heel prick at his very first visit but nothing since then. He got 4 shots at his apt yesterday. What is the finger prick for? Totally clueless here...

DS 12 month finger prick was for lead testing i believe.

Ok... We filled out a lead risk questionare and DS wasn't at risk so that's probably why he wasn't tested.

But im kinda concerned if he was supposed to have testing for iron levels and didn't. He is a big guy at 28lbs and 34 inches so maybe since he is off the charts they assume all his levels are good?? I dk.... Just brainstorming here.

G wasn't tested at 12 months either by his pediatrician.

When we had our WIC appointment, they pricked his heel to test his iron level. His iron was great (12.5), so we had nothing to worry about.

DS had a finger prick to test for iron levels, not lead.

When Nene was little she got her finger pricked for iron. Despite her stats she was anemic and I had to pump her with meats and veggies. Amir got his blood drawn via arm, iron allergy test and I'm pretty sure the last was lead despite not being st risk.

Our doctor does the finger prick for iron level at 9 months. No lead testing. She is currently sleeping off her 4 shots she just got this morning.

Ours was done at the 9 month appt to check iron levels.  If your baby is BF its kind of important cause BF babies tend to have low iron.
