No-cry sleep solutions

I was reading old posts and a lot of people talked about how no-cry methods didn't work for them. I'm wondering if anybody out there has a positive story about. We want to get Hannah to sleep earlier in the evening, so thinking some kind of sleep help. I like the idea of no-cry, but haven't heard a lot of positive stories. Thanks

If you post on the Toddler board, I'm sure you'll find some people it worked for. Based on my experience and that of my friends, it can work well for a baby that wants to sleep and just needs a little help. It's babies like DD who are just terrible sleepers that don't really benefit from the no cry suggestions.

I read no-cry nap solution. I picked up some good tips. Watch for tired queues, socks and shoulders covered. We have a no nap after 5pm rule (bedtime is at 7). However, I nurse to sleep, which a lot of people aren't huge fans of since it creates that association. J gets in bed with us after her first wake up. J doesn't cry and we are very pro-AP. 

 You might post over on the attachment parenting board. They are big no-cry fans.
