Both are technically correct, but by and large the most common spelling is Scarlett, which is an actual name (from a surname having to do with being a seller of red cloth). Scarlet would simply be a color name, like Indigo or Red.
Scarlett is the spelling used by the iconic character, Scarlett O'Hara, and the most common spelling used today. If you use Scarlet, expect to get a lot of misspelled cards, nametags, etc.

Scarlett is definitely the more common spelling. DD is Scarlet though and I have to say so far not that big a deal I often just say if speaking to someone first time like a Dr. office etc. "Scarlet with one T" We just simply preferred it like that and weren't trying to name her after GWTW. My name is a common name (or was in 70's) that is spelled the french way and I actually liked that it was set apart a bit without sounding too bizare or different. Just my .02!

The nice thing about Scarlet vs. Scarlett is that it's as simple as saying "with one T." (Kind of like being Catherine with a C).
So, yes, even though it's less popular, the inconvenience is pretty minimal.
We have Scarlett picked out for this baby if it's a girl, because of GWTW.
