aspirator

Afraid to use it. Any hints? He's very stuffy.

Re: aspirator

  • Nosefrida! The aspirator is good, but it can be too big for their little nostrils. Steam up the bathroom and sit in there for a bit. Do you have a cold mist humidifier? Stick it on in the room that you are there and nurse him with the mist floating over his face. It can open him up.

Ask your pediatrician before doing this: mine ok'd a tiny bit of baby vick's diluted with vaseline. Mix a pea sized drop of the baby vick's with a quarter sized vaseline blob. Mix very well. Test on your wrist. Dilute with more vaseline if it is noticeably burning. You just want enough to open them up but not enough to burn their skin. You can also try the drop in tablets in the shower. That can open the baby up without overwhelming them.

Good luck. Its tough when they are this small!

We love nosefrida! Sometimes they are so stuffy that it makes me miss hospital suction, though. That was the best.

You won't hurt them, they just don't like it. It's necessary to keep their crap cleared out so just go for it. I don't like things shoved up my nose either but I also know how to blow my nose lol

This is how I feel too! He doesn't like it but needs to breathe :)

  • Yes to the Nosefrida! It is amazing, and DD has a much higher tolerance for it than the bulb aspirator.
