Homemade purees

For those making your babies food what is on the menu lately? I'm not sure what to give him or what to mix and match now so I'd love to hear what others are doing!

Re: Homemade purees

  • Right now we have a menu of bananas and oatmeal for breakfast. Yogurt and some fruit for lunch and apples squash and sweet potatoes for dinner
  • Loading the player...
  • I get a lot of ideas by seeing what combos are on the premade foods then make it myself
  • Purees I have done: watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew melon, cherries, peaches, pears, applesauce either alone or mixed with apricots or blueberries, mangoes. For vegetables I have done butternut squash, green beans, peas and carrots, carrots, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, broccoli. I have also made meat in the crock pot and I save the juice. This way when I make mashed potatoes I add some ground up meat and then the left over stock. Also have done mac and cheese and rice cereal with zucchini puree. I am sure there are more just can't think. Supposedly sweet potatoes and apples are a good combo.

  • Last night we gave lo a puree of boiled potato, carrots and greenbeans, blended w/2oz of formula, she loved it.

  • We do blueberries, strawberries, pears, carrots, sweet potato, peas, etc. Right now she loves carrots and pears together. I have also gotten her to eat peas by mixing it with avacado, which she does like. She also loves bananas, so I can usually get her to eat most anything if I mix some in.
  • Currently on the puree menu...
    kale/carrots
    carrots/peas
    green beans/corn/spinach
    blueberry/banana
    blueberry/strawberry
    apples
    sweet potato

We also give him little bite size pieces of whatever we are eating, local fruits (peaches, cherries, etc.) and Cheerios to practice eating by himself.
