I've seen different numbers but some as high as #8. My other 3 girls are in the top 100. But not much above. Certainly not top 10. Too popular to pick?
That's based on the website's members. To the right, you see where it's listed on the SSA list---so, the actual number of babies born with that name in the U.S.
ETA: That said, I predict it'll be a Top 10 name in the next five years. It's on the upswing.
I know 3 but one is an old lady, one is a high school student and one is a little girl. It's too popular for my taste but that's up to you to decide if it would bother you.
I think it is one of those names that really depends are where you live. I have never met a Charlotte. I have taught elementary school for 8 years and there has never been a Charlotte in our school. I love the name ~ vetoed by my DH.
This is one of my favorite names, but it has gotten too popular for me )and my DH vetoed it and its too matchy with our DS name). But I know 2 baby Charlotte's with another one on the way.
i live in suburban CA and have taught preschool age groups. It seems that theres always one charlotte in every bunch. I think it's a cute name but i think it's too common for me. but all those ashleys, laurens, jessicas, jennifers and heathers all had parents too that didnt think it would be a problem. If you love it, go for it.
Re: Charlotte is it really that popular?
It feels really popular.
It's mentioned on this board quite a bit. If you want anecdotal evidence, I know 2 Charlottes-- both under 3 and I do not know many babies.
Aside from all of that, it's a lovely name with a lote of cute NNs.

Piggybacking off of mj, 7,418 babies were named Charlotte last year. In the whole country.
I know two born last year. It's a pretty name, but I prefer Scarlett.
ETA: clarity.
Here it says 8 for 2013.

It does somewhat. You can check out most popular names by state here:

You have to scroll all the way to the bottom. I don't know why the website is formatted so weird.
