XP: Prevacid question

If your LO is on Prevacid solutabs, how do you administer the dose? 

DD started this two days ago and I'm having a hard time giving it to her. When I put the tablet in the water to dissolve as directed, it doesn't ever fully dissolve. So then I'm left with powder that gets stuck in the syringe or nipple or however I'm trying to give it to her. She'll drink the tsp of water that I dissolved the tablet in, but since there is some powder left, I'm not sure she is getting the full dose. I'm hesitant to put it in her formula because she doesn't always finish her entire bottle, so again I'm afraid she wouldn't get her full dose.

Maybe put an oz of formula with it have LO drink it then give more formula after ..that's what I used to do with her zantac

I had the same issue when LO was on it.  I just tried my best to get as much as I could and didn't worry about it.

They give us the suspended solution (which for some stupid reason is not covered by my insurance because it is the solution!!) and we have done the syringe directly into his mouth, but make sure you hit the back/inside of the cheek instead of the tongue, OR we put it in the nipple and chase it with like 1 ML of water in the nipple to make sure it all gets down, OR we put it in the first half ounce or ounce of formula and then swap bottles, OR most of the time now (since his reflux is starting to get better) I put it in a full bottle of formula and do not care if he finishes it or not.  Sometimes instead of putting 2 ML in a full bottle, I put like 2.2ML in, assuming that he will probably finish only 90% of the bottle and if he takes even a bit less, or all of it, it is not too much of a difference in amount of med.  It's not an exact science.  Actually very happy because the past 2 weeks he has really turned a corner and only spits up like 5 ML, once every 2 days or so.  Before it was like 20-30 ML twice per day and 5 ML twice per day!

My LO has been on it for a couple of months now and we have tried just about everything (including syringe and bottle nipple)! What works best for us is to put tablet in a baby spoon and drop some water in it. Then I gently swirl it until it dissolves, once it does i tap it on his lips coaxing him (careful not to spill!) until he opens up. I hold the spoon sideways along his mouth and then down the hatch it goes! I usually hold the spoon in for a few seconds until he swallows so I can make sure it goes in. Sometimes there is residual in the spoon, in which case I swipe it (with a clean finger) and put it in his mouth. Quite the process, but he's a champ at it now! Good luck!

OP, something you might want to check is when you are supposed to give her food after the medicine. If I remember right it was a half hour. Like we really wait that long after they wake up, but it might make it less effective if it is with milk.

We have a dropper that I took the top off of...I use one finger to cover the opening, then put the half tablet in and slowly put in a little water and let is dissolve.  Then I put another finger over the top, and put the tip of the dropper in my son's mouth.  With my finger on the top, I can slowly let the liquid out so that he swallows it without spilling.  Hope that makes sense, it's a little hard to describe, lol...he has been taking it for about two months now and it has definitely made a difference!  I was afraid he wasn't getting the full dose, because sometimes the dissolved tablet/water would spill or dribble out, but he must be getting enough because it's working.  Also, our instructions were that you are supposed to give this medicine on an empty stomach for it to work effectively...so at least two hours after a feeding, but at least half hour before the next.
