I had an unexpected c-section, but I felt great pretty quickly. I just started running at 8 weeks, but only because I live in TX and its majorly hot. We just had a few cool days, I ran 2 miles 2 days in a row and it felt great. I would have done it at 6 weeks if the weather was cooler.
First, wait until you are cleared by your OB for high impact exercise.
I had a vaginal delivery and felt good enough to run by 6w, which is when I would've been cleared if not for a bladder prolapse. In 8w pp now and plan to start soon.
I ran after 4 weeks after with my first & just after 2weeks with my second. I know it's not recommended but I ran my whole pregnancies so I went a mile or 2 at the slow pace I had gotten used to bearing the weight of pregnancy and for me, it was for my mental health. I had vaginal problem free & insanely fast deliveries so I recovered very quickly, or at least felt like it! Running is a giant part of me and after feeling like I was sitting down ALL day long just nursing, jogging a 11 minute mile or 2 was helpful.
I waited until my 6 week check up and Dr. approved me to exercise. I started running last week(8 weeks) It is a great stress reliever and gives me alone time. But it is frustrating because I am not running 6 miles like I used to...barely can do a mile without stopping to walk..but I was on bed rest for the last 2 month of pregnancy so I have to give myself a break....My knee has been bothering me so I probably did too much too soon. When I was preggo I would get so jealous of seeing people running..lol.
Re: Running Mommas....How soon after delivery could you run again?
