Do you know your child's actual reading level

Do you know your child's actual reading level and if yes how did you get it?  I am not a homeschooler but thought you ladies might have an idea of how to figure this out.  He took the PMAP in April but I know his reading is way beyond what it was 4 months ago when he was in Kindergarten.

Thanks

London I will check that out. I do not really care which method. Lexile would be great but it does not need to be that. I mostly want to just know if the books he is choosing are his level or above it and then I could figure out how well he is reading for accuracy. And when he starts back at school I want to be prepared to push if they give him stuff too below his level.

I don't know what level she is on, but I do know what sorts of books she is capable of reading. In my experience, the best way of gauging this is to sit down with the child and have them read aloud. Do they struggle with certain words or do they blow through the text making little to no errors, etc.
