Quick double stroller with car seat attachment

My 3rd (eek!) is due in December.  I will have a 4 yr old, a 17 month old and a newborn. We currently have a very old City Mini GT double that I love, but it doesn't have a car seat attachment.  So I think I need something I can put a carseat in.  It kills me to spend $600 on another city mini GT double, but even cheap options are $300.

What I want is something quick to fold, quick to take out, quick to snap a car seat in.  WIth the car seat attachment, is the GT double still all of those things?  Or can you think of a better option?  In my mind, this would replace the snap n' go we currently have.  And I'd prefer a side by side.

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the City Mini (I had the City Select), but is there no after market car seat attachment you can buy? I know the City Select had one.

ETA: I think I see what you're saying. The older model does not have an available car seat attachment?

  • Try the Valco Snap Dual. I love mine. It opens and closes in one step, fits through standard doors (only 29 inches wide), steers one handed, has individual reclines for each side, is all terrain, and has a great sunshade and huge basket.

Valco just started making a car seat adaptor for it. I got it because it was rated for newborns without a car seat and weighs less than the Maclaren double I was looking at. I really just wanted something simple and lightweight. It's about $400.

  • Exactly.  The new models have a way to attach a car seat (though it's not clear to me how easy it is to unfold with adaptor; do you have to reattach it every time?)  I think ours is from 2004 or so.  We bought it off Craigslist.

Are there holes on the sides of the stroller?  Near the middle? My friend has one that is about 7 years old and just bought a car seat adaptor for her Chicco car seat.

Update: I just read that the universal mounting brackets were introduced in 2007.  Bummer.

Do either of you know whether it's easy to fold with the car seat attachment on it?  It seems there are many where you have to reattach the bracket every time?  Space is not too much of an issue, we have a van.

  • I'm not sure if you can. Contact Brooke at info@valcobaby.com and check their website. They have always answered my questions very promptly.

You cannot fold it with the car seat adapter on but it's not hard to remove.
