My Screaming Toddler

When DS is angry or doesn't get his way, he lets out these eardrum-piercing screams at the top of his lungs. Is there any way to stop this? Sometimes I out my hand over his mouth and sternly say "no yelling", but I am not sure he gets it. When he is that mad, you can't redirect him either. Any luck with this one, or do I have to just live with it till he out grows it?

Re: My Screaming Toddler

  • My DD is the same.  I just try to ignore it and not give it any more attention than necessary.  Not always easy to do, but I can't give in to everything.  That won't help either.

Ditto!  If anything (if we're in public or something like that), I will look at him and say "Hey, heeyyyy," in a low, calming voice.  More often than not, though, I try to ignore it and not give any attention for that behavior.  It's hard not to give in in order to make it stop, but I also have to tell myself that we have to set some limits and can't let him have everything he wants!  lol.
