seperation anxiety & bedtime troubles

For the past 3 weeks DD is crying and trying to get me to stay when I leave her with SIL. DD was 2 in July. SIL has been watching her for a few hours at a time a few days week since she was 3 months old. This past week the crying has escalated to full meltdowns with banging her head on the floor. Also the past 3 nights bed time has become an issue. Its taking 2-3 hours to get her to sleep. It seems as if she is afraid of her room or just doesn't want to be alone. Last night DH finally got her to sleep at midnight by sleeping with her on her floor. I work nights so i'm not here to help. Both DH & SIL are following the same routines. Is this just a phase? Anyone have tips or tricks to get past this?
