How would you respond to this?

DHs annoying cousin is in one of these pyramid businesses always pushing supplements, shakes, etc. she just sent me the following note on Facebook. No note, no thinking of you, etc.
How would you respond? (My initial thought was to punch her in the face.)

Note from cousin:

I would say thanks for the info but I'm not interested right now. If you want her to stop with it completely just say no thanks and to please stop pushing the product on you as you are not interested in it at all.

Also, IMO, if there was a magic pill or shake to prevent these things I feel like more docs would be informed of this.

So if you don't take this and have a preemie is she saying its your fault for not taking it???

I'm not a doctor but I don't think the cause of prematurity is lack of omega 3's. I took plenty and still had one.

Hopefully she sent that to all her friends and not specifically to you? Cause if she did that's messed up. I would write back saying don't send me any more of these messages. I may even mention something about how insensitive it was to send that to you.

I vote for punch in the face.

And for the record, my prenatals have DHA in them and I took them religiously. My doctor said the most common cause for pre-term labor without any other/previous indications of a problem is infection, which is exactly what I had. Bacteria don't care about omega-3s.

Hehe.  Well that's my first thought at least.  That burns me up though.  I would probably say 1) that sending that to you was very insensitive.  2) that a supplement that can prevent premature birth is a load BS and nothing but snake oil.  3) direct her to some sources like MOD that do ACTUAL research about preventing premature birth.

Oh my goodness, you have so much more patience than me! I would have completely flipped out already! I would also just delete that person from my friend's list with no explanation. He was obviously dropped on his head as a baby.

I would probably block her and/or unfriend her first, and then punch her in the face the next time I saw her.

I am so sorry she sent you that! I would punch her in the face with a handful of omega 3's!!!!
But you have to laugh, by her posting that shows how misinformed she really is. Like a pp said if it were that easy then there would be no such thing as premature birth... Dumba$$.
I would be tempted to respond with a smarta$$ response like " thanks for the info but I like rolling the dice and putting my child and myself in harm, because you know that's what all mom's who have preemies do, purposely try to have a baby before term..."

Your initial thought was the same as mine. Honestly, I would have flipped. I dont think I could come up with a response that wasnt an all out rage at the ignorance and insensitivity shown by sending the note in the first place.

Update: DH was just as offended as I was. But, we decided to take the high road & DH called her. He left her a VM that said that "her message was probably coming from a good place, but she really had no clue about our NICU experience or what were currently going through. He asked that she kindly stop soliciting her products to us. We are not & will never be interested."

We she never called him back but I know she got the message bc she emailed me again on Facebook saying "So sorry, I was just trying to help. I will never try to help again. Good luck with everything"

Ugh that makes me just as angry!!! Anyway, glad to hear that my reaction was completely justified. Besides being medically inaccurate, that was the most insensitive thing anyone could say!

Her response or "apology" was as bad as the original offense! So she did intentionally send you that, not to her whole friends list??

OMG....I would have told her she was selling an ignorant load of crap!   And her response just makes it worse.  Time to unfriend/block.
