Holiday-related vent

A little backstory... DH's parents got him a Wii for Christmas.  He took it over to their house tonight to let them play it with him, and DD and I went there for dinner and a little while afterwards before I took her home to go to bed.  I talked to MIL about us possibly hosting NYE on Wed. night, so that DD can go to bed normally, but anybody that wants to can still stay up, eat, play the Wii, whatever.  DH was supposed to get a final word tonight so I know whether or not I have to go shopping for food tomorrow (and make my list tonight).  He spent another 2.5 hours there and just came home and said "They don't know yet."

I do love my IL's, but the lack of planning ahead drives me insane!!!!  I mean, honestly.  I am offering to open up my home, prepare dinner (and probably dessert), feed everyone, entertain everyone, etc., and you can't even say "yes" or "no?"  They're supposed to decide in the morning and let me know.  (Not sure what difference another ten hours makes.)  Seriously, I really don't care one way or the other -- just make a decision!!  If you're coming, fine... I will make my list tonight so I can have it ready for the small window of opportunity I will have to go to the store with a happy DD in the morning.  If you're not, fine... I will go on with my life and make my own plans with my own family of three.

This is just the way these things always go.  We all wait in limbo while SOMEONE finally decides the day before something is supposed to happen.  I really don't know why I even bother anymore!

Just needed somewhere to vent!

  • That's frustrating.  I'm sorry but I hope you still have a good NYE no matter what you end up doing.  :)
