Measuring gas drops

I bought some Target brand infant gas drops and I'm having a helluva time with the dropper that's included. The medicine is a cloudy white liquid. I can't exactly see how much of the dropper is full of liquid versus how much is just coated with it.

Does that make sense? Are other brands like this too? I don't want to go spend $10 on Little Tummies brand if it turns out I'm just an idiot.

  • Little Tummies is like that too. I just scrap the sides off on the bottle. Over fill it, squirt some out and tap the sides to get the bubbles out.

  • It is hard to see, I have the same kind. I just wait for the liquid to settle a bit and get it as close to the line as possible. I think the Mylecon drops are easier to see , that's what I used with DD1 and they were pink in color back then , not sure now.

Same here. Overfill it and keep tapping the side of the bottle to get the bubbles out!
  • I just use the syringes that I got at the pharmacy for their Zantac. Much more precise.

  • St. Joseph's Simethicone drops come with a syringe instead of a dropper.  It's much easier to use. They were $9 at WalMart.  You can also go to your local pharmacy and ask them for an infant medicine syringe and use that instead of the dropper that came with yours.  Just make sure you get the smallest syringe (the one that measures 0.1ML to 1.0ML), there are a few sizes for infants.

  • Thanks for the reassurance and tips! I'll def ask the pharmacist. I have a couple syringes from other things but they are larger.
