Babies on the Brain

Does anyone else change 4 sizes in a day?

When I wake up in the morning I swear I look like a VS model. I can see my abs, I'm skinny, it's fabulous! By lunch time my clothes are tight and I have a muffin top. When I get home, I look 5 months pregnant. No joke. WTF?!?! And it starts all over again the next day. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat, how much I eat, or when I eat it. I'm convinced my body is more susceptible to gravity.

  • Doesn't sound right. I'd really examine your diet and think about getting checked for gluten/dairy issues. Especially if you have any digestion issues as well.

  • Ok, so it may not be that bad, but that's how it looks through my eyes sometimes. And I have tried changing my diet, or excluding things to try and figure out what the cause my be, but so far have been unable to pin point the culprit. I think that's what is so frustrating about it, is that there isn't any obvious cause. I don't eat out, only drink water, I run 3-4 times a week, I eat Greek yogurt almost daily so I'm getting probiotics, I just don't know. Bleh.
  • Im in about the same boat as you. When i first wakeup my stomach is somewhat flat and i feel great. The second i eat or drink i get a pot belly. And by 2 pm i usually look 7 months pregnant... And im only really 7 weeks haha ohwell. Weak abdominal muscles is my problem and also water retention. Try apple cider vinegar mixed with water it helps
  • I'm the same way! Hubs assures me it isn't as drastic as I think, but I've started running all my errands in the morning so people see me at my svelte-est. My dr says its because I'm drinking so much more water and my job is sitting at a desk 40 hrs a week.

Svelte is probably my favorite word ever, lol.

I'm on my feet all day for work, and even have "working lunches" so my meals are pretty spread out. I pretty much graze all day rather then having real meals.

  • I have a similar issue. Although I never could compare myself to a model. But I've had gastro issues since childhood and recently had an endoscopy. Apparently I have excess acid in my stomach. That diagnosis cost me $700. Thanks Doc.

I eat well, workout, drink water. But I get insanely gassy and bloated throughout the day, especially after meals. It's quite sexy.

  • Thought I was the only one!  Guess it's not as abnormal as we all thought!

How much cider per water? I love ACV but never used it for bloating...

I definitely am in the same boat as far as the bloat goes! In the morning I'm feeling awesome and mid day I'm flabby! I did talk to my doc a long time ago about it & it's normal.... Especially normal & not necessarily a condition if you eat well & drink enough water... But I definitely feel it much worse when pregnant,,, even in the first couple weeks. From experience.

I think it sounds like a dairy/gluten intolerance, too. I am the exact same way

They also make apple cider vinegar tablets that are much more convenient.

    Definitely this!
  • I have Celiac Disease (gluten intolerance), & if I accidentally eat gluten that is the result.

Usually the initial test for Celiac is a blood test where they look for the antibodies.  If it comes back positive, they do further testing; if it comes back negative, you have ruled it out.  I would get it checked, especially if you are TTC/pregnant.  It is really bad for you & the baby if you have the disease & eat gluten.
