Re: It's Friday..... time for some flame free confessions!

  • Here goes nothing... I still sometimes text while driving - and I hate myself every time I do.

  • Ohhhhhhhh GOD MelissaD, I know this is flame-free confessions but for cryin' out loud I drive with my baby and husband and would just die if someone hit us due to texting while driving. I gave up texting and driving 3 years ago as a New Years resolution and it is like, the only resolution I've stuck with religiously. Sorry, I am totally violating the flame-free rule, but fo reals.......

Now I feel bad and have to confess something too... I lied to one of our nanny candidates and told her we found someone who lives in our building. We didn't. We just found someone who we trusted way more than her. I was like "we will keep you on our babysitting list though!"... Nope. Not happening.

I am talking about 5 and 6 year old breastfeeding. I personally know someone doing that.

Put your phone where you can't reach it while driving, like in your purse behind the drivers seat... Or the trunk if you have to. Put it on silent so you cant hear it. I agree with skidderdo, that is scary... But you can break the habit if you want to. Good luck!
  • When DH is driving I sit in the backseat with LO, I know it's silly but he cries so much in the car and if I sit with him he's happy and babbling away.  I feel like an idiot when we're at a stop light and people are staring at us cause they can't see the baby seat.  DH encourages it cause he can't stand to hear him cry for a second.  Tell me I'm not the only one.

You know what, I do this too and I need to stop.  I know it is really bad.  I think that starting RIGHT NOW I will make a conscious effort / attempt at quitting.  Note: I never do it when LO is in the car, but on the way to work, etc.

I think there's an app that you can download that locks the phone or something, can sense movement??

I do this too when needed. Small price to pay for a happy baby!

Whenever we go out, I drive and hubby sits in the back so I can get a break/change of scenery

We do this sometimes too. DH will usually sit with her because she's a daddy's girl and calms down immediately. She'll hold his finger and pass out asap. Plus I get car sick in the backseat in a millisecond.yuck.

I have, but only on long car trips and really only so I could pump and give LO bottles to help shorten the trip as much as possible. The few times that I have sat in the back with him, he gives me weird looks.
  • My FFFC. I'm super jealous of people who have already left LO for more than a couple hours or overnight. Including (especially) friends IRL.

I guess my confession is that I love being a working Mom.

I guess my confession is that I love being a work at home mom. Best of both worlds! Although, I'm not really sure if that's a flame-worthy confession :)

I just leave my phone in the diaper bag in the back seat. No possible way to text

I do this most of the time too.

I do it too. LO is usually happy in the car, but he's way more fun to look at and talk to than being in the front seat.

  • Dude. I would love to be (at least a part time) working mom because being a sahm is WAY more than just staying at home and snuggling. But daycare costs are just too damn much.
I def know that SAH is way more than cuddling. I've been home with LO since he was born and just went back to work this week. The cuddling is just the part I miss the most about being away from him all day!

That's why I love working - I know there is a ton of stuff that sahms do and I really, really hate housework and cooking. Bring on the meetings, spreadsheets, and training sessions! Haha ;-)
