I hate to be that girl, but H and I did this for about 3-4 years then stopped for a month or two and got pregnant... I sorta believe it worked for me....... Now after this baby I don't know if we'll take that chance again!
Hubby and I used that method for 3 years with luck! I can't be on birth control without it making me psychotic, no matter how low the dosage. Also, there's an app that told me when I was ovulating... that helped too...
My SIL did not know that the pull out method wasn't reliable. Hence their 8 year old daughter;) it was 5 years of doing pull out method before she got pregnant.

Unless you were charting there is no app that will tell you when you are ovulating.
More power to you ladies that used it effectively but I am always confused when people say this is thier method of BCP. There is so many different options of BCP that can all be gotten very cheaply at places like Planned Parenthood, why take the chance? Pull and pray = very likely to get pregnant.
I think it can totally work, if you regularly track your periods and keep track of dates. I am not brave enough to try!! I think it's funny that some people are just so ahocked when it doesn't work!
And even then, he has to have not ejaculated recently, because if he has then his pre-ejaculate will have sperm cells in it. Supposedly, if he's ejaculated and then urinated, he will have flushed out any sperm cells, but I wouldn't quite trust that.
whaaaa?? this makes no sense, i don't see any time there would be ZERO sperm, no matter what voodoo you did prior.
DH and I used this method along with paying attention to my ovulation dates. We had accidents two months in a row..and here we are! Lol I don't think I'll be relying on this method after Bronson's arrival though...but it worked quite well for us for about two years. My body hates the hormones in birth control meds

No kidding?
Of course I was charting. It's an app on my phone I would use to keep track of everything. I use it now to track my pregnancy too.
My mom and stepdad used this method for 6 years. When they decided they were ready for another they stopped and my brother was conceived shortly thereafter. My mom is old school Catholic so no birth control, but this was apparently ok.

Not sure if that was sass or not...
I have a friend that downloaded a free "period tracker" app that "tells her when she's ovulating" w/o charting and she relies in it. Shockingly, she ovulated every 14 days after her period!
I am fully aware of this not truly being a form of b.c and yet we used it for 3 yrs and never had any mistakes. The second we decide to trust the doctor's prognosis in our next to nil chance of pregnancy and NOT pull out-- well here I am today.

We used the pull out method for 5 years. Decided to get pregnant and it happened within 2 months. I can't take BCP's because they make me a hormonal psycho disaster and give me migraines.

This is what I thought she meant too...when I was on TTGP there were lots of chicks who would be like "oh, I'm totes ovulating because my period tracker says I am." Which is true, if you have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on day 14. SMH.
Married my love 8-25-12

this method worked for us until my FI decided not to pull out...bahaha oh well - but that like someone said, not sure why they wasted research time and money on this
ETA: i'm also happy to see that birth control makes other women crazy! i hate that shit..gotta find SOMETHING though...does anyone have a non-crazy birth control option?
wait, 'natural family planning' is not exactly the same as the pull out b.s. method. Though i do think NFP is b.s. in it's own way too lol.
but, i digress..........
Oh sweet baby Jebus, don't even get me started on NFP. When DH and I took pre cana, the couples who presented to us about this method all had 7, 8, 9+ children. Don't stand there any tell me your bs method is effective when you're raising a freaking litter of kids.

I was using an app for about 6 months after my MC with no luck. Since the first time around i got pregnant on the first try, I started to wonder why it was taking so long. Sure enough, i bought a fertility monitor which accurately indicated that i was actually ovulating on day 9 of my cycle rather than day 16-18 (which is what the app always recommended based on my long cycle length). So for 6+ months, we were trying to conceive a full 10 days too late! Fertility monitor worked the first month and here we are!
This method did not work for my H and I. I am 32 weeks pregnant ha. we obviously were not doing the method properly.
Us either. I guess it was effective for about six months? Or perhaps we just dodged it by chance? Oh well, if it were going to be devastating to get pregnant I would have been using a better method.
Can I just say that this whole pull out method doesn't seem like any fun to me. I mean the best part for him and he's gotta worry about holding off until he's out? Call me weird but it just seems so unfair haha, and not to mention messy.
Re: pull out method causes MORE pregnancies?!? whaaaat....
