Dads & Dads-to-be

5 Thing Thursday

1) For those dads who have kids here, do you seem to be getting sick more, less, or the same, since your kid's arrival?

2) What kid appropriate shows are your kids going to be/already are forbidden to watch?  Which kid shows are a guilty pleasure for you to watch?

3-5 are you.

I seem to be catching more colds, but about the same on everything else.  I think the kids get it at daycare and bring it home and just pass it through the family.

    2) What kid appropriate shows are your kids going to be/already are forbidden to watch?  Which kid shows are a guilty pleasure for you to watch?

The boys don't watch Barney or Yo Gabba Gabba.  My wife thinks the creators of Yo Gabba Gabba drop acid when they write scripts.  I watched one episode because I caught Weird Al Yankovic on it as a circus ringmaster and I think I have to agree with her.  My favorite kid show that I like to watch is actually aimed a little older than my kids, but I think Phinneas and Ferb is pretty damn funny.

    3) Reason I asked #1 is that once again it seems like something is running through the house illness wise.  Youngest picked up a virus a week or so ago, and now oldest is coughing.  I think allergies are getting me today, but it does seem like if the kids catch a cold, I do too.

    4) Colts first preseason game didn't go that great, but Irsay flew a bit off the handle on his Twitter, as he is prone to do.  Now there is a story that is much bigger than it needed to be.  Hopefully he doesn't continue to do this and create a distraction for the team.

    5) Saw the new 1st person video of the new roller coaster that Kings' Island is putting in next year... I'm a fan.  I may have to venture back there now since there are more than 2 worthwhile coasters.  I've yet to ride Diamondback, but hear good things and this new Banshee looks pretty sweet.  Last time I went there Firehawk was the latest ride and Son of Beast still stood, but was not running (they were taking out the loop).

We've already planned our trip to Kings Island next year to ride Banshee. I have family who lives 10 minutes from the park so they can watch the baby while we hit the coasters.

  • 1) I would say roughly the same, a little more.  My SIL is still in school (she is 11) so we were getting things passed down through her for a while now (the 10 years that I have been dating/ married to my wife).  Now he gets it and brings it into our house.

    2) Nixed: Yo Gabba Gabba
       Guilty pleasure: Busytown Mysteries

    3) Mowed my parents lawn today, they are out of town for 3 weeks, with all of the rain that we have had the back yard I had to bail and give to a local farmer.

    4) Made my boss mad today at work when I told him a package that really needs to be released failed to meet minimum standards and that just because the print out was fine doesn't mean that the drawings in our data base are not broken.

    5) My senior engineer is back from India but most likely will be told in the next few days that he is no longer directing the priority of projects and that since our group is becoming it's own business unit we have to wear a lot more hats and make sure the items that we are in charge with are production released.  Next week will be very interesting.

No change in sickness.  Of course he is only 12 weeks old so we still control his environment.

    2) What kid appropriate shows are your kids going to be/already are forbidden to watch?  Which kid shows are a guilty pleasure for you to watch?

I couldn't name kid shows for this question.

    3)  The site updates pretty much broke this site on my work computer.  That's why I haven't been around recently.  I had some time tonight and figured I would see what was going on.

    4) I'm loving how expressive our little guy is.  It's all about the eyebrows.

    5) The Reds are closing the gap in the division.  Hoping they can keep this up.
