When is it going to stop? (crying when dropping off at daycare)

DD started a new daycare (Mon-Fri from 8-5) on Monday 8/5, so she's almost been there for two weeks now...and is still crying when I drop her off AND when I come pick her up.  When I come pick her up, the moment she sees my face she runs toward me and starts wailing.  I know it's only been two weeks, but I'm just wondering when (and if) this is ever going to stop.  She loves it there...she has SO much fun.  The "teacher" sends reports through email everyday that describes what they've done and has pictures of the kids, and DD is ALWAYS smiling in the pictures.  They say that in the morning, the moment I leave she stops crying.  Any tips anyone?? Thanks!!!

It took LO about a month+ to adjust to daycare where he wasn't crying every time, and really around 2-3m before he consistently was happy although he still has days when he wants me to stay but rarely cries now.  For a while he'd start crying when we pulled in the parking lot And LO did the same thing - would start crying when he saw me at pick up too. That ended first, and then the drop off got better.

It's hard, but I'm sure she's fine. It really just takes time. I'd give it a good 4-6wks but she may adjust quicker.

I wrote pretty much this same post back in March and now DS loves going to daycare!
I think it took about a month of him clinging to me and crying his eyes out before he finally got over it. I used to have to pretty much push him into the room and run. Now, I'm lucky if I get a hug before he's running into his classroom.  It'll get better, one day it'll be like a switch just turned off and she'll be fine. Hang in there!

DS cried for a few weeks when he started his new room. What I found worked the best is to do the same routine in the room when you drop off. DS sits at the table every morning and eats his breakfast. I wait a minute or two while he gets use to the room and then he waves goodbye and blows me a kiss.
For pick up. Some kids just get so happy to see their parents they don't know what to do with their emotions and end up bawling. It might just take a little bit of time for her to get use to her emotions.
Good luck. We all know how hard it can be to leave a crying kid.

It took 2 months with ds, and he started daycare at 2. The next year (I teach, so he was home with me over the summer), it took a months. My guy is just sensitive. I don't think dd will cry as long as ds did.

I used to be a daycare teacher.  I had 2 kids that took an extra long time to adjust.  The longest I've seen is 2 months.

We usually try and give him a task...like to open his backpack and get his cup out to give to his teacher. Something that occupies his mind and attention but also excites him and gets him comfortable. Worth a try but altogether it takes time. We struggle with it because he only goes 2 days a week and is just so used to being home with me.
