PP clothes recommendations

I am planning to head back to work after Labor Day. I still have some medical issues, but they are slowly improving, and I'm out I'd leave and really don't think we can afford to go without my paycheck.

That being said, I was cleaning out my dresser today, and I started thinking about what I'm going to wear when I return. A lot of my clothes still won't fit, particularly my pants, stupid csection.

I teach third grade. I wear dresses with tights a lot, but I also need some dress pants, especially going into fall and winter. I would like some basic colors like black, navy, brown. They need to wear and wash well and not need to be ironed or dry cleaned. Oh, and stretch would be great. I still haven't been cleared for exercise, but eventually when I am, I want something that will work with a changing figure.

I know I'm asking for a lot, and I hate shopping right now. So, does anybody have any recommendations on pants you have found and like?

Re: PP clothes recommendations

  • My c section area is still tender, and I have a whopping 16 lbs of baby weight to lose. So, I am wearing maternity pants! (sucks, but its comfy!) I've found maternity dress pants for under $5 at salvation army and goodwill. I don't want to invest too much since I (dear God please) plan to lose the baby weight soon :)

Good luck heading back to work!
  • P.S. My fave are Gap maternity.

  • I just bought a bunch of stretchy skirts at old navy. They are super cute!!
  • When I was pregnant I wore yoga pants with my nice blouses and nice flats to work, no one even noticed they were not dress pants! You could try that until you feel ready to buy new dress pants. Good luck!
  • Yeah, I've lost pretty much all the baby weight. My stomach area is just not the same though. My prepregnancy pants are not going to fit over this roll. I hated my maternity pants, so I am glad to dust my hands of those. Lol. They wouldn't stay up even when I was pregnant.

I cross posted this on another board. They suggested tunics with jeggings/leggings, which I like. I'm going to try to find some to wear. Also I guess New York and Company has buy one get one free on pants right now, and they have some stretchy pull on pairs. I love stretch.
  • Jeans are still bugging me. I wear dresses all the time. I teach 2nd grade.

  • I'm still so tender that I am wearing my maternity pants even tho they don't stay up easily.  I tried regular pants (jeans) and it hurt.  I love my dress pants from Kohls and Macys though.  Jeans are less forgiving than dress pants so I think those would work.  If your dress pants button and you just need the waist a bit looser, you could sew a button closer to the button hole.  Good luck!
