C-sections

Painfully half-numb 4 weeks after c-section

At first I was completely numb in the ugly fat shelf above my c-section scar.  Now I've regained sensation but only half-way and it's painful. Sort of like when you regain sensation in a limb and it's all tingly and hurts even more when touched. If you've ever had your cheek numbed for a cavity and you can remember those few hours when you were regaining sensation and it was sensitive and painful until you fully regained normal sensation it's like that... except it's been that way for about a week. Is there a chance that it's going to stay this way forever? Will I ever fully regain normal sensation? Wearing clothes hurts, having my son lay on my lap hurts, my husband running his hand around my waist hurts.  I just want to cry.

  • Mine was the same way. It was very numb for awhile and then got painful/uncomfortable. Now I have feeling around the incision and the incision itself is numb. I'd say it took about 7 months to get as healed as it was going to get. My doc said the nerves just take longer to heal.(Nobody warned me about the numbness before hand so I freaked out a little)  All of this said I would still check with your doc to make sure that you have healed well.

  • DS will be 2 next month, and I'm still slightly numb, but the skin pain faded. I still have abdominal pain when I attempt ab workouts.
