C-sections

Best ways to minimize the scar....

What have you ladies done/tried and how well did it work?? Also how soon after the C did you start using it?
I'm up for anything weather otc or home remedy mix :-)

Thank you! :-)

Re: Best ways to minimize the scar....

  • My doc recommended Mederma. I only just started it so can't recommend it either way, but she said shed seen great results from it.

  • I'm one of the very lucky ones who not only had a super easy pregnancy from day one, but also didn't get a single stretch mark. So the irony of having a C tomorrow morning is a bit funny so I figured I would see what people knew were true ways of getting the scar down to as unnoticeable as possible.

  • The doctor mentioned using vitamin E or cocoa butter on the incision. I will be discharged today so I haven't tried it yet.

  • I had abdominal surgery when I was a teenager and ended up with a big, ugly scar.  I've tried everything on it and nothing changed the way it looks at all.  I really don't think products like mederma help.  I used that religiously after I was out of the hospital and it did nothing.  I had a c-section and the scar isn't very noticable.

  • My scar is hardly there. It's the little line right above my pants line. My wrinkles from my pants look worse than the scar, and its been that light since around 4mo PP. never used anything on it. Now the stretch marks are another story, lol.

  • I just used my regular lotion that I put on my legs everyday (aveeno). After my first c section the right side was pretty thick but at my second my doc cleaned it up and I barely have any scar now. Third c section coming soon so we will see. Don't know if this matters but I had staples the first time and stitches the second.
  • I used to work in a plastic surgery practice.  Their advice to minimize scars was to massage them with some type of oil or lotion.  They said the product didn't matter, it was the massaging that helped the scar.
