I get my pump set up before I nurse Owen. Right before I latch him, I turn my machine one, latch Owen...and put the pump to my boob and away it goes. If Owen unlatches at any point, I just stop pumping and put the bottle down, and re-latch him...and put the pump back to my boob. when I pump I pump in my room and the pump sits on our nightstand.
I tried this yesterday and it worked pretty well. I only pumped for 15 min which is my usual length and got 2 oz, a lot for me from one side! For those that do this routinely, do you pump the whole time you're feeding?

I'm new to doing it routinely. Well....(semi routinely) I am back to work, but only pump fresh milk for that day. I don't have a freezer stash.
Anyway- yes, I pump the whole time I am feeding Owen...actually sometimes I will finish pumping the side Owen just ate on, after he is finished. I can only get about 2 oz from my right side...and about 4 oz from my left side. I found what works best for me to squeeze another oz out on my right side, is when it looks like I am not getting anymore milk, I will break the seal, and wait about 15-20 seconds, then start pumping again. I do this for about 5 min and I get a little more milk out. I will massage my breast also and I get a little more milk out doing it that way also.
