Cute lunch check-in :/

I'm afraid this going to be my last cute lunch check-in. I need my Flickr account for another project right now. :/ But I hope you've gotten some ideas and perhaps been inspired to add a little fun to your kiddos lunches. You don't have to go all-out, buy a bunch of picks and bento boxes or even spend very much time. Kids really do notice and appreciate even the smallest gestures. Happy lunching to all of you!

Shark! This idea is not original, but I still love how it turned out! I used an egg-shaped cookie cutter to outline the shark, and a tiny square cutter to make the teeth. Blueberries and Goldfish fill the ocean. There's also a sandpail of dried cherries, cucumbers and a strawberry. This box was $5 at Old Navy and I love it! The mini sandpail comes from allthingsforsale.com, which is where I get the majority of my special tools. Check them out - they're awesome.

Strawberries! The plan had been to cover the sandwich with little black sprinkle "seeds" but my crying toddler had other plans. So we have a seedless sandwich with a piece of salami, a little strawberry cup with dried fruit, Babybel cheese, a few itsy bitsy Wheat Thins and some cucumber slices. The bottom tier has a bunch of strawberries and grapes. My child could survive on strawberries alone.

First day of first grade definitely calls for a happy face lunch in our happy face bento box. The sandwich has a fruit leather face. That tier also has blueberries on picks, a box of raisins with a Post-It note label, a little container of ?? and some Goldfish. The next tier has grapes and ham. And finally, I threw in some watermelon because it was so sweet and juicy. So this first day lunch was kind of a mess!, and the only things she ate were the ham and watermelon. The rest was devoured after school.

And finally, and over-the-top Peanuts lunch. This took longer than normal but I think the end result is super fun! The cookie cutters and containers are from allthingsforsale.com. I used scissors to cut pieces of nori (dried seaweed found in the international aisle) to make the details. Snoopy's side is a PB/honey sandwich, strawberries, snap peas, mini Triscuits and a container of chewy treats. (The containers are very tiny and only hold about 4 chewies.) Woodstock's side has a cheese sandwich, blueberries, more snap peas and a container of dried cherries.

If anyone has any questions or anything, feel free to ask! Have a great week and make a cute lunch!!

  • I usually just lurk....but thank you for so many wonderful lunch posts.  I don't get to do cute lunches as often as I'd like, but I've loved seeing yours.   :)
