Babies on the Brain

DS

3 yr old son tells me yesterday once you have the baby your gonna get rid of me...
he than tells me that once baby is born he wants to go back in my belly and that he can make him self really small. :( poor guy wish i had the day off to play with him.

Re: DS

  • Poor guy.  He must be so confused.  Keep him as involved as possible.  I made a conscious effort to call it "our" new baby so DD would have a feeling that he is hers and mine and Daddy's.  I also give her lots of little baby care tasks like unfolding the new diaper for his diaper change, grabbing his pacifier from the crib, shaking his bottle to mix the formula, etc.

  • Poor thing. Transitions are hard, especially when they can't really grasp what they mean. Try to make sure he has 1:1 time with each parent after the baby is born. Stuff only "big boys" get to do.
