Help me

This may be tmi but I'm experiencing vagina itch. It's so irritating and it feels like it burns. I will get tested for a yeast infection tomorrow when I go see my OB but I don't think that's it. I also know its not a sti... Anyone dealing with this? I'm thinking it could be hormones or irritation from the constant flow of discharge. Soooo annoying!!! Grrr. Any feedback would be great.

Re: Help me

  • Why do you think it's not a yeast infection? Sounds like that to me

  • The discharge is clear.... No odor. Just very different from yeast infections in the past... I could be wrong. R yeast infections common in pregnancy?
  • I have had a yeast infection where my discharge is clear and haven't had a strong odor. I understand everyone is different, but it is worth investigating.

  • I've had the same thing for a few days now. It also just doesn't seem like the usually YI, more just incredible dry itchy skin. I plan to ask my OB about it today.

Yeast infection, BV, or an STD. Those are the only things I can think of, but then again I'm not a doctor, which is why it's pointless trying to play the guessing game with non-doctors when a simple culture can give you the answer you are looking for.

  • I've had it, too, and it seems to be from all the moistness and blood flow. A little baby powder, changing panty liners more frequently and even vagisil has helped me.
  • Thanks for the tips. It seems to be common. I googled pregnancy and this issue is quite common. Reassuring, thx ladies :)

^This. Also, Google is not a doctor and can not test you. Could it be totally normal? Sure. Could it be a yeast infection? Yes. So why are you trusting internet strangers that aren't doctors and don't know you, and Google, instead of just calling your doctor and getting it checked for sure?

In terms of treatments, that's also something you'd have to ask your doctor about. It would be irresponsible for anyone to tell you to put any kind of medication (OTC or otherwise) into/around your vag.

    Call your doctor.

  • If u read my original post I stated I'm going to my OB tomorrow... I know enough to know that google is not a diagnosis. Wow, I was looking for input and to see if its common. Looking for helpful comments... Thanks anyway
  • I had this in the beginning of my pregnancy, I was so itchy I felt like I could itch my skin right off. I started sitting on moist hot wash cloths to try to relieve the itch. Dr checked me out, it came back as nothing. He said it could be from the spike in my estrogen. It lasted maybe a week. I hope you can find done relief before your appointment, I know how annoying it is.

I did read your original post. If you have any sort of inkling that you have any kind of infection in or around that region, it's not something that you should wait to talk to your doctor about. If left untreated for any length of time, infections can and have caused preterm labor. So, yes. Me telling you to call your doctor instead of asking us is the only responsible advice that I could give you. If I, or anyone else, said anything else like "Oh, it's no big deal. Don't worry about it" would be irresponsible and ill-advised since you seemed pretty ready to take people at their word, thus putting you and your LO in danger.

There is not enough facepalm for posts like this. If you were educated enough about your pregnancy and what sorts of things can happen if you leave infections untreated, you wouldn't be asking period. You'd be calling your doctor and getting it handled.

  • Yeast infections are super common in pregnancy
  • When I'm sweaty I get itchy, even if I've showered recently. That coupled with the fact that I can no longer see my vagina to shave it could be a possible explanation. GL at your appointment tomorrow.
@imakeeff0rts OP is indeed getting tested at the OB tomorrow according to the post, but it appears she is trying to look to other possible explanations for the discomfort. I can imagine googling "itchy vagina during pregnancy" only sports results that indicate YI.

While I'm thinking about it, OP make sure you're going in specifically to get tested. I know you're giving urine samples at every regular appointment, but I believe they test for protein and not all practices test for infection without you mentioning it.
