Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Crawling

Hey everyone.  Just wondering when your LO's started crawling.  My little man is 7.5 months and still isn't. He will roll to his belly and then kind of rotate around in a circle, and pull himself from side to side using his arms and midsection. He then gets frustrated, and starts to whine and eventually cry until we sit him back up on his butt.  I am not too concerned.  We struggled with tummy time in the beginning because he had torticollis and had to go to PT weekly, so I assumed he may be a little behind with crawling.  Just wondering when your babes started to be on the move, and if there was anything you did to get them going.

TIA

Laura

  • Just as kids get teeth at different times they also crawl at different times, I know it's hard but keep telling yourself that.  DD crawled at 9.5 months and DS started army crawling at 7 months.  Just give him plenty of floor time and he will get there.
  • DD started crawling at 7 months, and then within 2 weeks was all of a sudden pulling up to stand, cruising, etc.  It was crazy and I didn't see it coming!

We have done lots of floor time since birth.  And I think she was trying to keep up with the other kids at daycare, because there were a handful of them that started crawling 2-4 weeks before she did.  Any other babies around for him to watch?
  • She just started crawling in the last week, don't rush it...now that she can crawl, DD doesn't want to snuggle much anymore :(

  • Our LO crawled the day before he turned 8 mo. He is a chubby wubby and didn't like tummy time much but the one day he started liking it. I feel like he learned to roll over and crawl with a few weeks. Once he crawled he has started pulling himself up and cruising. You'll see some kids just seem to do and learn so much in a week

  • My LO was about 8 months and I feel like it came out of nowhere - one morning she sat up unassisted and by bedtime she was crawling and attempting pull herself up onto her knees.  It all happens SO fast!

  • DD was about 10 mo and my DS started right at 7.5 mo. He is way more physically advanced that she was, but she was also more verbal than he is. All babies do things on their own time.

  • Army crawling 5.5 months, hands & knees 7 months. She's fast with her motor skills but she's not really developing vocally.
  • My LO started right at 8 months. She spent about 2 weeks rocking on her hands and knees and finally put it together. And now she's unstoppable! :)
