From POTTY to TOILET?

I know some of you began potty training straight in the real toilet, but William was terrified of it.  We got him a cute little Cars potty chair, but I'm wondering how we transition him from the little training one to the real one?  How did you do that?  I'm hoping today is the day of full potty training  *crossing fingers*  He's in pull ups today, I didn't want to throw him straight into the big girl panties lol

I found this cute little picture book that helped my son's transition tremendously.  Find it on Amazon under "TEENY TOTTY" or go directly to their website www.LoewenHerz-Creative.com/Teeny-Totty.   Moving our children from potty to toilet can be almost as difficult as getting them on the potty in the first place.  Any bit of support helps!  :) With warmth and sensitivity, this picture book guides little boys and girls through the challenges and rewards of transitioning from a potty to a grown-up toilet.  It also includes a helpful note to parents.  Good luck!!!  (P.S.: it's also available as an eBook)

DD was terrified of the big toilet at first (she PT at 26 months and not a big kid) and I never pushed it (because it doesn't work well with her). I did get a ring for the big toilet and one day she just decided she wanted to use it. She would still prefer the little potty but over time she switched to the regular toilet with ring and then to without one. I told her at 3 the little potty would go away and when I told her that she actually started using the big toilet more consistently (this was a few month before turning 3). I don't think there is really anything you need to do. Just have something available for him to use on the big toilet and he will be ready to try it at his own pace. She still has a little potty in her bedroom which I only use for MOTN pees (rare) and when she is in her tub in the shower.

  • Our transition wasn't bad at all, we got her a princess potty ring and she gradually started to put it on the toilet herself and wanting to go like a big girl.  Then we went on vacation for a week with just the princess ring and little potty disappeared, she sees it in the basement now and says she doesn't need it, it's for babies.

I wouldn't push it until he's fully potty trained and let him pick one himself at the store

my DD was also in pull-ups for a long time when we first started to get her used to sitting on the potty and reading books, as they were easier to pull up and down
