Britax vs. Nextfit

Hi - I'm looking for a convertible for our DD.  We're planning on having a 2nd child soon, so I don't mind if she grows out of the current seat between two and three, since little sibling will need it about then (and then we can move her into a bigger one - probably a radian).  I think that I'm down to one of the Britax seats or a Nextfit, and was wondering if anyone had an opinion.

For full disclosure, we already have one Britax, which'll be in my car - I'm looking for one for SO's car, which is a '13 Chrysler 300.

Re: Britax vs. Nextfit

  • I recommend the Chicco Nextfit.  I wish it were around when I was looking at convertible seats.  It's got great padding and fit for infants and toddlers and seems like it would be cooler fabric than the Britax.  It's also supposed to have greater RF longevity.  Many of the moms on my BMB have mentioned regrets on their choice of Britax seats for their toddlers who have yet to turn 2 because of the shorter than average shell and lack of leg room with RF.

  • The Nextfit will fit your child rear facing longer.  If you don't plan on rear facing past two, the Britax will be just fine.

  • Nextfit because it will last longer.  It's more bang for your buck.

  • I agree that the nextfit will last you far longer RFing. we just bought one last week for my 2.5 year old and he has plenty of time left RFing in it. it's also really great front to back and fits in smaller cars without issue.

  • I'm searching for a car seat and I read that the straps on the Nextfit are really difficult to adjust and tighten.

They're stiff, but after a few weeks they soften up and that goes away. Team Nextfit.
  • Nextfit. My DS outgrew the RF height in our Boulevard so I bought the nextfit. Great seat

  • We have Nextfits and love them. The straps aren't that bad.
