Oball - choking hazard or not?

I've seen tons of fab reviews for the Oball (rattle version), but on Amazon, despite being called "baby's first Oball" it has a big choking hazard warning and says it's not for children under 3.  It gets mostly really high reviews, but I did see a few mentioning the choking potential of the little beads.

  • You can buy one that is just plain, without the rattle balls.

  • I have an Oball rattle for my infant and it was labeled for newborns and up. I don't know if there are multiple types but all the ones that I have seen are marketed to infants. My son loves his Oball and I haven't had any issues with it.

  • Same here, DS loves his rattle Oball.  We've never had an issue with it.  The rattle part seems pretty secure to me, but I'm also constantly washing it and checking it as I do all of his toys anyway.

  • Amazon has a lot of dubious " choking hazard" declarations.  I remember at one point Sophie the Giraffe was considered a choking hazard.
I got the original O-ball to avoid any concerns with loose pieces, but the rattle ones seem to be durable.
