Sample meal plans??

Anyone want to share what they eat for Breakfast, lunch, dinner & snacks.  I want to be healthy for this baby and feel like I've been given lots of overwhelming advice--- and would just like some good examples of what other pregnant moms are choosing to eat.

I'm a teacher so snacks would need to be quick and portable during the day.  Thanks in advance! :)

Re: Sample meal plans??

  • I wasn't feeling well in my first trimester and needed to keep up a balanced diet, as we all do, so I found a protein powder I could mix with milk for my lunches and added fruits and veggies to round it out. I had the powder approved by my OB, so definitely take that step.

As for other meal/snack ideas, you can't go wrong with washing fresh produce and cutting up a mix of everything, putting it in baggies, and having it ready to grab throughout the week. I keep nuts, low fat cheeses and yogurt, and proteins on hand. DH grills once or twice a week and he makes me several chicken breasts each time. That way, I have good, lean protein ready to grab for a quick salad or to be heated up and added to a bunch of cooked veggies. We also keep bags of frozen fish fillets so I can round out my diet with some fish during the week. I do eat deli meat but I always heat it up either in the microwave or in the panini press so it is safe for pregnant women. Find some good sandwiches to make and I highly recommend a panini press for mixing up the meals. It makes the need to heat up deli meat less of a hassle and more enjoyable.

Look into protein bar recipes you can make on your own and then store them for the week. That way you'll have something quick and healthy to grab instead of something like a candy bar or donut as some pregnant people tend to indulge in more than is good for the little one. That's not to say a splurge once in awhile isn't a good idea!

  • Great suggestions--- thank you!! I love deli meat so was devastated to find out I couldn't have it... but the panini press sounds perfect!

My OB said as long as you warm up your meat to where it is steaming (or if there's cheese on the sandwich, you can feel safe as soon as the cheese has melted), you're good to go!
