Clomid and ttc#2

Hello ladies:). I am in need of some advice and thoughts and was directed to you. with that said here is my story: I became pregnant 3 cycles after stopping bc for my ds, now 2 1/2. We starting trying for #2 when ds was 10 months. After a year of trying on our own we were referred to a RE. He discovered my thyroid was low possibly causing my progesterone issues. He treated me for this and really pushed IVF. I'm not there yet...mentally. So I asked to try a different route, he talked about clomid but sent me back to my ob for it. So here I sit tonight ready to take my first dose of clomid and I'm now questioning everything, maybe I'm not supposed to have another, what if twins pop up...and hundreds of other thoughts and feelings! Did any of you have any of these feelings. Any insight to what I am getting myself into wold be amazing. Sorry such a long post.

I took clomid 5 cycles (3 back to back) and 2 with IUI and trigger.

Is your problem Ovulation? If not, then I don't think it is necessary.

Unless, you are doing IUI in which case, I don't know why they give it to you (maybe to control timing?)

I don't know what the multiple risk is with clomid, but I'm willing to venture a guess that the risk of multiples is much higher with IVF than it is clomid (someone correct me if I am wrong)

With that said, I liked the drug. It was cheap, it's been out for a long time (it is in my opinion) a small gun. Clomid is like a BB gun and IVF is like a cannon.

BUT - I let my ob give me 3 months of clomid when I actually ovulated on my own (and like clockwork) it turned out we have MFI.

If you are ovulating and you take the clomid it won't hurt anything. What dose did they give u?

I did 25, 50, and 100 mg (doctor doubled dose each failed cycle).

Thanks for the reply. I'm on a dose of 50. I do ovulate but have a very short lp. They are thinking this will help with that. What is MFI? Probably a silly question

Male factor inferility. not silly at all!

I suggest try the clomid, especially if you want to start small and they think it might help your LP.

Now, I don't want to scare you off, but it did make me emotional and it gave me hot flashes. But that was the worst of it.

Thank you for the info. We have both had the full work up from an RE and all is good. they only discovered with me my low thyroid which I am now medicated for. I haven't noticed any side effects yet except maybe some cramping on one side. Wo knows I could be over analyzing

I am in a similar boat but I have 1 tube and PCOS. I decided not to do iui/clomid this month more bc DH wanted one more month the try on our own. I too have the wth am I doing thoughts all the time too. Hugs! My RE pushed IVF too

Hi there. Thanks for posting. I'm going through the same thing. I have a DD who's 4. I also have hypothyroidism, which caused me to have a very short lp (8 days). I started clomid last month, 50mg. It made me very tired the days I took it, so I think taking it at night is a good idea. I also took prometrium after ovulating. I have been SO emotional. This cycle didn't work for me. AF arrived yesterday. I'm trying to refocus and try again. My follow up is tomorrow, so I'll see if he wants to increase the dose or what. Good luck to you!
